Cuba’s flag has rojo, azul y blanco, and a star.
Azul stripes on the flag stand for the three
districts of Cuba at the time: occidental,
central, and oriental.
Blancas stripes stand for a pure patriotic
cause.
El triangulo rojo is a symbol of strength and
constancy, as well as a memorial to the blood
sacrificed by patriots. Triangles are also
symbols for equality and fraternity.
The white Estrella stands for independence
and freedom.
Colombia’s flag shares the same colors with
Venezuela and Ecuador.
The design of the current flag is attributed to
Francisco de Miranda, a Venezuelan General.
The National Flag of Colombia features three
horizontal bands of Amarillo (top, double-
width), Azul, and Rojo.
Amarillo symbolizes sovereignty and justice,
Azul as loyalty and vigilance, and rojo
represents the valor shown and the victory
achieved during the battles for independence
from Spain.
Argentina’s flag inspired the designs of other
flags in the American Continent: Uruguay,
Guatemala, El salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua y
Costa Rica. It is called the Albiceleste.
The flag’s Azul and Blanco represent the
country’s clear blue skies and the Andes’ snow.
However, if you look closely, you will notice a
sun with human facial features in the middle of
the white band that stands in for the “Sun of
May” and has qualities of the Inca Sun God, a
signifier of Argentina’s liberation.
Ecuador’s flag shares the same
colors with Colombia and
Venezuela.
The colors have a meaning:
Amarillo for a prosper land.
Azul the skies and the ocean.
Rojo the blood of those heroes who
sacrificed themselves for their
homeland.

the Dominicans.

Chile’s flag share its colors with a lot of
other flags, such as Paraguay, Panama,
Dominican Republic, France, USA and
more.
The star is seen as a “guide on the path of
progress and honour,” while Azul stands
for the sky. Blanco stripe corresponds to
the snow of the Andes Mountains, Rojo
stripe below reminding citizens of the
blood of those who sacrificed themselves
for the fatherland.

inspired by the flag of the Federal Republic
of Central America, of which Honduras
was a member.

El Salvador’s flag The upper blue stripe

Paraguay’s flags shares colors with the
French flag and are considered the
colors of liberty and independence.
Rojo stands for courage, equality, and
patriotism, Blanco symbolizes unity,
purity, and peace, and Azul represents
liberty, benevolence, and truth.
Guatemala’s flag was the original flag
of Central America.
The flag was modeled after Argentina’s
flag.
Its colors are Blanco and Celeste.
Uruguay’s flags shares colors with
Argentina’s flag, Guatemala and

Peru’s flag was designed combining the
colours red and white, said to have been
chosen because San Martín saw a flock of
flamingos take wing at his arrival.

Panama‘s flag is red, white and blue, divided
into four quarters with two white rectangles –
one blue, and one red. Either white rectangle
boasts a single star, blue in the top left, red in
the bottom right. Every color is symbolic in the
way that it represents an important element to
Panamanian life.
The white in the flag represents peace. The
blue star is symbolic for purity and honesty,
and it also represents the Conservative party.
The red star stands for authority and law, and it
also represents the Liberal party of Panama.

Nicaragua’s flag is very simple, has 2 colors
Blue and white.
Its colors represent important values for their
people, loyalty, the sky, the sea that covers
their shores, kindness, peace… and they
actually inspired in the Argentinian flag.
