What is feature?
A feature story is an in-depth look at
a person, situation or place.
 A feature story is a write-up that is

based on mysterious ingredient in


journalism called human interest.
 A feature story is an article… that is

not meant to report breaking news,


but to take an in-depth look at a

 Generally feature stories are of
two types:
• News features, which are usually
written as a follow-up story that is
linked to a breaking news event
• Timeless story, which does not have to
be used immediately. The information
in this story will be just as relevant if
saved for a future issue

 Trend stories: report on change that
happen gradually overtime.
 Profiles: tell the story of a person or
persons
 Human Interest: stories in some way tell
us more about what it means to be
human.
 You can write a feature story about
anyone if you find an unusual angle that
captures the interest of your readers
