CONCEPT

Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil, using

nutrient-rich water solutions. By setting up a hydroponic farm
in an urban space (e.g., rooftops, underutilized land, or
vertical farming structures), you can grow fresh vegetables,
herbs, and fruits in a controlled, efficient environment.

AIM:to reduce the dependency on rural agricultural land,

shorten the supply chain (farm-to-table), and ensure
year-round crop production, even in urban spaces with
limited sunlight or soil.

Types Of Hydroponic Systems-Nutrient NFT-A shallow stream of nutrient
Film Technique (NFT) solution is re-circulated past plant roots
in a tilted tray
functioning follows the following
principle:
• A reservoir contains the nutrient
solution.
• A pump circulates the water from
the reservoir through the growth
tanks.
• The grow trays contain the plants.
The plants grow in a growth
medium and are in containers with
slots, so-called netcups.
• The netcups allow the roots of the
plants to hang in the water flow and
thus absorb the nutrients.
• After the nutrient solution has
flowed past the roots, it returns to
the reservoir via a hose.
Types Of Hydroponic DWC-Plants are suspended in a nutrient-rich water solution, allowing the roots to
grow in the liquid
Systems- • To build a DIY Deep Water Culture (DWC) system, you'll need a few supplies
Deep Water Culture and some knowledge of how to mix nutrients and adjust the water level:
(DWC) Container: A bucket or storage box that's large enough to hold the plant and net
pot
Net pot: A pot with holes that allows the plant's roots to grow into the water
Air pump: An air pump with tubing and an air stone
Nutrients: A nutrient solution for the type of plant you're growing
Growing medium: Rockwool, expanding clay, or another growing medium to
surround the plant
Tools: A food scale, hole saw, and drill bits
• Here are some steps you can follow to build a DWC system:

Prepare the water: Mix nutrients into the water, test the pH, and adjust it to between 5.5 and 6.5.
Fill the container: Fill the container with the nutrient solution to a level that's about one inch above the bottom of the net pot.
Add the plant: Place the plant in the net pot with its roots growing out of the growing medium.
Add the air stone: Attach the air tubing to the air stone and place it in the container.
Turn on the pump: Turn on the air pump to circulate the water and distribute air bubbles.
Maintain the system: Every one to two weeks, remove the plant and replace the nutrient solution. You can also add more
buckets to the system to grow more plants.
MARKET RESEARCH AND DEMANDS

Target Customers:
• Urban households/bulidings/societies
• Restaurants
• cafes(these days its trending to have a plant based terrace sitting places etc.)
• partnerships with local government programs

Product Demand:
fresh, organic, and pesticide-free vegetables, fruits, and herbs example--
• Leafy greens: Lettuce, spinach, kale
• Herbs: Basil, mint, cilantro
• Fruits: Strawberries, cherry tomatoes
• Bell peppers, cucumbers
