Activity – Describing the Physical Geography of New Brunswick

1. Peninsula and Islands: Nova Scotia is shaped like a long peninsula, sticking out into the
Atlantic. It's also made up of several smaller islands, with Cape Breton Island being the
largest and most famous.
2. Coastline: Nova Scotia has a long, jagged coastline with many bays, inlets, and harbors.
The Bay of Fundy, located between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, is famous for having
the highest tides in the world!
3. Forests and Hills: Much of the land in Nova Scotia is covered in forests. It also has many
rolling hills, especially in the Cobequid Mountains in the north. These hills are not very tall
but give the land a hilly look.
4. Lakes and Rivers: Nova Scotia is dotted with many lakes and rivers. One of the largest
lakes is Bras d'Or Lake on Cape Breton Island, which is a large inland sea.
5. Climate: Because it’s surrounded by water, Nova Scotia has a maritime climate, which
means it has cool summers and mild winters compared to other parts of Canada. The
ocean also brings a lot of fog and rain.
