The target of change is the person, organization
or other entity that is expected to change
TARGET OF CHANGE
For your advocacy assignment, determine
what you want to change. Be specific. Only
select ONE target for change. For example:
I want to provide support services for victims
of human trafficking (micro level target).
I want to create a housing shelter in Toronto to
support refugees who have no place to live
(mezzo level target).
I want to advocate for the Immigration Refugee
Protection Act (IRPA) to be amended so that
unaccompanied minors can sponsor their
family members (macro level target).
THE CHANGE AGENT
A change agent is a person
or team who is responsible
for carrying out the plan.
For your advocacy
assignment, be specific.
Provide the names of the
agencies, organizations,
politicians, NGOs,
community groups or
individuals that you want to

A method of change comprises
specific interventions, strategies or
approaches and a clear plan of action
for creating the change
Method of Change
For example:
If you want to provide support
services for victims of human
trafficking (micro level target) list
the steps you will take to make this
happen.
Step 1 create a working group to
determine the type of supports
best suited for victims of
human trafficking.
Step 2 determine where you will get
funding to support your
operation.
Step 3 do you need an office space? If
yes, where will your offices be
located?
Step 4 How will people know your
services exist? How will you
get clients? What is your
Method of Change
If you want to be even more specific,
use the logic model we learned about
in the Community Development and
Fundraising course.

This is not a requirement but if you


want to follow a highly structured
format, this model can help.

of change is
an
identifiable
individual or
group who is
expected to
benefit from

THE CONTEXT FOR CHANGE

A context for change


is the setting in
which the planned
change effort takes
place.
These settings can
be found at the
Micro, Mezzo &
Macro levels.

For this assignment, your context for
change should align with your target
for change.
For example, if your target for change
is at the micro level then the context
which you are making the change will
also be at the micro level.
If your target is a mezzo level change,
then your context is also mezzo.
