comprehensive framework that
outlines key elements for
effective presentation in
various contexts. By
understanding and applying
these seven principles,
individuals and organizations
can enhance the quality and
impact of their presentation

• Preparation is the single most
important part of making
successful presentation. As it is a
crucial foundation we shall dedicate
as much time possible, avoiding
shortcuts.
• Things such as time, place, audience
and objective of the presentation
shall be kept in mind.
• When choosing subject, you should
consider your audience’s
demographics and knowledge about
the topic.
• While preparing supporting
materials for presentation such as
examples, narratives, statistics,
testimony, etc. can be included.

• Thus good preparation will ensure


that you have thought carefully
about the messages that you want
to communicate in your
presentation.

• Planning is critical aspect in delivering a
successful presentation.
Here’s a brief overview of planning aspect in
presentation :

1. PURPOSE: Identify the primary objective of


your presentation. Ask yourself “What do I
want my audience to know?”

2. AUDIENCEANALYSIS : Understand to
whom you are speaking. What are their
interests, backgrounds and knowledge level on
the topic? Make changes in your presentation
accordingly.
3. STRUCTURE: Organize your content. A
common structure is :

a) Introduction : State your topic and purpose.

b) Body : Present your main point using facts,


figures and examples.

c) Conclusion : Summarize and restate your main


points.

will not be motivated to give
next presentation in future

PLACE
• The choice of place in a presentation is
important because it directly influences the
audience’s experience, engagement, and
perception of your message. A well-thought-
out presentation space can enhance your
ability to communicate effectively and
achieve your presentation goals.

you or not, there are key questions you need
to ask the person organizing the event to
ensure that you are properly prepared for

of your topic, you’re less likely to be flustered or
anxious during your presentation.

to use notes to keep your presentation on track,
it’s crucial to avoid simply reading your content

to demonstrate the relevance and impact of your
subject. However, it’s crucial to transparently

You need to know the basic demographic
characteristics of your listeners, such as their age,
gender, education, occupation, culture and
language. You also need to know the size and
composition of your audience, such as how many
people will attend your presentation, and whether
they are homogeneous or heterogeneous. Knowing
your audience will help you choose the
appropriate tone, style and level of formality for
your presentation.
2. Assess Your Audience’s Knowledge
You need to know how much your listeners
with information they don’t understand. You want
to provide the right amount of depth of
information for your audience.
3. Analyse your audience’s attitude
You need to know how your listeners feel,
think, and behave in relation to your presentation.
You also need to know how receptive, resistant, or
indifferent they are to your message. Analysing
your audience’s attitude will help you anticipate
and address any potential objections, questions,
or concerns that they may have. You want to
appeal to your audience’s emotions, logic, and
values.
4. Adapt your presentation content
that resonate with your audience. Adapting your
presentation content will help you create a clear,
coherent, and compelling message that your
audience can understand, remember, and act on.
5. Adapt your presentation delivery
You need to adjust your voice, body language,
eye contact, and gestures to suit your audience’s
expectations, preferences, and feedback. You also
need to use appropriate humour, enthusiasm, and
rapport to engage your audience and keep their
attention. Adapting your presentation delivery will
help you communicate with confidence, credibility,
and charisma.
