What is Vue.js?
• Vue.js is a progressive and versatile JavaScript framework
primarily used for building dynamic and responsive user
interfaces (UIs) and single-page applications (SPAs). Its
design philosophy makes it incrementally adoptable, meaning
you can seamlessly integrate it into an existing project for
small parts or leverage it to build entire applications from
scratch.
• It combines the best of other frameworks, offering features
like a reactivity system, component-based architecture, and a
virtual DOM, ensuring a smooth development experience
while maintaining high performance.
• Vue.js takes inspiration from AngularJS in its directive-
based approach and the use of two-way data binding (v-
model in Vue is similar to Angular’s ng-model).
• Vue.js adopts the virtual DOM concept from React, which
allows efficient DOM updates and better performance. Vue
also incorporates component-based architecture, similar to
React, enabling developers to build reusable and modular UI
components.

History
Vue.js was created by Evan You in 2014. Evan was a
former Google employee who worked on the AngularJS
framework, and Vue.js was born out of his desire to
create a more flexible and lightweight alternative for
building user interfaces.
Open-Source Growth: Vue.js, starting as Evan You’s
solo project, quickly gained traction due to its open-
source nature, attracting contributors and establishing a
strong community.
Enterprise Adoption: Global companies like Alibaba,
Xiaomi, and Baidu embraced Vue.js, proving its
scalability and reliability for complex applications.
Vue 3.0 Release: The launch of Vue 3.0 in 2020
introduced the Composition API, better TypeScript
support, and improved performance, making it ideal for
modern web development.
Versions of Vue.js
1) Vue 0.x (2013 - 2014)
• First Release: Vue.js was created by Evan You as an experiment inspired by
AngularJS.
• Key Features: Basic data binding and simple templating.
2) Vue 1.x (2014 - 2016)

Core Features of Vue.js
• Developer-Friendly Syntax Vue.js is known for its simplicity and
easy-to-understand syntax. The learning curve is low, especially for
developers familiar with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The framework's
API is designed to be intuitive and allows for clear, concise code
without much boilerplate.
• Directives and Templates: Vue.js uses directives to extend
HTML with special attributes. These directives provide
functionality like binding data to HTML elements. Common
directives include:
• v-bind: Dynamically binds an attribute to an expression.
• v-model: Binds an input element to data, allowing two-way
data binding.
• v-if, v-for: Conditionals and loops in templates. Vue’s
template syntax allows developers to write declarative
HTML templates that are easy to understand and maintain.
• Virtual DOM: Vue.js uses a Virtual DOM, which is a lightweight
representation of the actual DOM. When data changes, Vue.js
first updates the virtual DOM, compares it to the previous
version, and calculates the most efficient way to update the
actual DOM. This improves performance and reduces
unnecessary re-rendering.
