PROBLEM STATEMENT :
 Air pollution is a major environmental concern, with significant
impacts on human health and the environment.
PROBLEM  There is a need for a low-cost, portable, and efficient solution for
STATEMENT /  real-time air quality monitoring.
Traditional air quality monitoring systems are often expensive,
HYPOTHESIS stationary, and not readily accessible for small-scale use, such
as in homes, offices, or small communities.
HYPOTHESIS :
 The development of an air quality monitoring system using an
ESP32 microcontroller, combined with appropriate sensors (such as
gas, temperature, and humidity sensors), can provide an affordable,
portable, and efficient method to monitor real-time air quality data.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

 Accuracy and Reliability: To ensure that the sensors integrated with the
ESP32 provide accurate and reliable measurements.

 User-friendly Interface: To develop a user-friendly interface to display and

analyze the air quality data .

projects and embedded applications.
 Targeted Gases : CO₂, CO, NO₂, SO₂, and O₃.
 Sensor Selection : Choose appropriate air quality sensors based
on the targeted pollutants and desired accuracy.
 ESP32 Integration : Connect the sensors to the ESP32
microcontroller and configure the data acquisition process.
 Display Integration : Integrate a scrolling display to visualize the
collected air quality data in real-time.
 System Testing : Test the system’s functionality, accuracy, and
reliability in controlled and real-world environments.
URBAN AIR QUALITY MONITORING :
 Monitor pollution levels in busy cities, where vehicular
emissions and industrial activities contribute significantly to air
pollution.
 Detect harmful gases such as CO2, NO2, and particulate
APPLICATIONS matter (pm2.5, pm10).
 Can be used to alert authorities and residents when air quality
drops below safe levels.
Example: smart cities implementing Iot-based environmental
monitoring systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING STATIONS :
 Deployed in parks, forests, and rural areas to monitor air
quality and track the environmental health of ecosystems.
