Contemporary Art in the Philippines

Influences of the variety of many other art forms


here in the Philippines are due to colonial periods
in our history – the Spanish, British, American, and
Japanese.
In the late 1980’s post modernism appeared here
in our country. Post-modernist believed that artist
should no longer try to create something “new”
rather they have to “borrow, combine, explore”
what already existed and produce something new.
This gave birth to integrative art, which is being
practiced in the different regions at present. 15
