1. IAQ Guidelines
Background (IAQ situation after Covid-19)
Due to the increased awareness of air quality among users as a result of COVID-19, the need for filter grades that comply with
ASHRAE standards (more than MERV13 or 14) has become apparent for ventilation and AC recirculated air.

2. Background of the
Development and Product
Concept
BACKGROUND
• In line with the increasing demand and awareness in IAQ, DAMA is developed Streamer Duct Chamber utilizing Daikin Streamer technology
Concept :
Different Types of Filters installed in series that ensures removing all types of pollutants:
- Pre-Filter removes relatively “big” pollutant particles from the entering air
- Dust collection Filter (MERV 14) catches mold, bacteria and viruses and prevents them from entering the room
- Deodorizing Filter ensures to liquidate the odors
Streamer technology decomposes harmful substances (bacteria and viruses) which caught by the the Filter

Concept
DP (Differential Pressure) Sensor Working Concept
• When ducted Indoor unit (connected to Streamer Duct Chamber) is turned on, there will be air passing through filters of Streamer Duct
Chamber inducing air pressure drop.
• This air pressure drop is detected by DP sensor. When detected air pressure drop exceeds minimum threshold value set in PCB, Streamer
and fan will be turned on to achieve sterilization effect.
5
3. Application
SDC with VAM Units,
SDC can be installed in either Location 1 or Location 2.
• However, Location 1 is highly recommended in order to avoid VAM to get dirty from the outdoor polluted air.
6
3. Application
SDC with Outdoor Air Processing Units (OAPU) that combine fresh air treatment and air conditioning,
SDC must be installed before the air conditioner unit to avoid condensation issue due to cold air draft.
Besides, it can avoid OAPU to get dirty from the outdoor polluted air.

3. Application
SDC with Air Conditioning Units (VRV IDUs, DX IDUs, FCU, etc.)
SDC must be installed before the air conditioner unit to avoid condensation issue due to cold air draft.

4. SDC Display Design
Streamer Display Functionality:
• To indicate the operation of the streamer (ON/OFF)
• To notify user when the maintenance is required

7. Daikin Streamer
Technology
Streamer is a unique Daikin technology that decomposes allergy substances, hazardous chemical substances, pollen and odors with strong
decomposing power.
Clash
Streamer emits high-speed electrons. Decomposes harmful substances on the dust collection
filter by oxidation.
No
replacement

8. Test Result of Daikin
Streamer at Device Level
Demonstration of the inactivating effects of Streamer technology Demonstration of the suppression effect against summer
on the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) colds virus (adenovirus, coxsackie virus, echo virus,
enterovirus, measles virus)
Simultaneous decomposition of pollen + exhaust gas and PM2.5 Demonstration of the suppression effect against winter viruses
which aggravate hay fever (Influenza type A H1N1, H3N2, RS Virus)
• After 4 hours of unit operation with the Streamer • The removal efficacy for Streamer Duct Chamber
irradiation on the MERV 14 filter, the bacteria (E. coli unit on airborne, the bacteria (S. aureus ATCC 6538)
ATCC 8739) was reduced by 99.99%. showed a reduction of up to 99.9% at 30 minutes.
• Testing method based on JEM1467 Appendix F, • Testing method based on JEM1467 Appendix D.

10. MERV14 Filter Efficiency
MERV14 Filter Specifications:
Particulate matter as small as 2.5 micomreters (µm) can be breathed deep into the lungs, rest assure that your air remains clean as the filter is
able to remove particulate matter as small as PM2.5 with MERV14 Rating in accordance to ASHRAE 52.2 Standards.
SDC14Dust collection≥filter
75% is able to meet
≥ 90%the requirement
≥ 95%
(MERV14 Rating).

11. SDC Installation
• Upside down installation is possible with the new lifting lug design.
• Units can be installed upside down to have common service manhole with 2 units.
Service Space:
Take into account inspection hatch of 600mm x 600mm (Common size in the market)
Servicing area (clearance) 650mm
16
12. Filter Maintenance
Filter Maintenance Procedure:
• Display panel will indicate the filter servicing notification.
• Service panel will be provided to remove and assemble filter.
• Filter will be serviceable from control box side.
• SDC will be able to be hanged up-side down (same as VAM) in order to ease installation.
Flexible and
Twistable
clamps

13. Q&A
Q: What is the principle of operation of Deodorizing Filter? How does it deactivate odours?
A: Odour particles that are caught on the deodorizing filter are deactivated by Streamer decomposing agents that travel to the filter.
Q: What about the pressure drop? it will be add up additional internal pressure drop which will affect the airflow of indoor unit or the booster fan will take of this additional
pressure drop?
A: The pressure drop of SDC is compensated by ducted unit with sufficient ESP (External Static Pressure). Take note to select ducted unit with sufficient ESP. In case ESP of ducted
unit is insufficient, booster fan can be added to compensate for SDC air pressure drop.
Q: what about the pressure drop across the air streamer unit ?
A: You can obtain pressure drop chart in installation manual (IM) page 13.
18
13. Q&A
Q: what is the RH% of operation for streamer light and is it suitable to work in highly humid area and can handle humid air having saturated water in vapor form ?
A: RH 80% (max operating condition range)
Q: Also, the pressure drop reaches 156 Pa on dirty condition on bigger models, how effective is this option with VRV indoor units?
A: At 156Pa (or 2 times of initial pressure drop), the reduction of airflow is around 10% which should not affect aircond system drastically. Normally, reaching 156Pa (or 2 times of
initial pressure drop) would mean 1 year of usage which requires new filter replacement. 19
