There was once a young boy named
Tobi who doesn’t know how to
find the inverse of a function
in their Mathematics Lesson. He
had a difficult time managing
his lessons. It was lonely for
him not knowing how to solve the
problem. So, he asked the help
of his friends who are good in
Mathematics to help him solve
his problem.
Learning Competency:
Determine the inverse of one-to-one function;
(M11GM-Id-2)
Subtasks:
Enumerate the steps in finding the inverse of
one-to-one functions;
Find the inverse of one-to-one functions
Who seeks help in the problem?
What is his problem?
What did he do? Why?
If you were one his friends would you do the
same? Why or why not?

INVERSE OF ONE-TO-ONE
FUNCTION
Let f be a one-to-one function with domain A
and range B. Then its inverse function
denoted by has domain B and range A and is
defined by if and only if for any y in B.
In mathematics, an inverse is a function that
serves to “undo” another function.
Note: A function has an inverse if and only if
it is one-to-one function.
INVERSE OF ONE-TO-ONE
FUNCTION
The definition of inverse function simply
explains that the inverse of the function
can be done through interchanging the
domain (x-values) and range (y-values) of
the function.
Recap:
FUNCTION – is a special type of relation where no “x”
values repeated in the relation.
1. {(1,0), (2, 3), (3, 0)}
ONE-TO-ONE FUNCTION – is a function where no “x and
y values” repeated in the relation.
For a function to be one-to-one there
should be no x and y values repeated
in the relation.
A graph is one-to-one if it satisfies
both the vertical and horizontal line
tests intersect the graph at only one
point.

PROPERTIES OF AN INVERSE
of ONE-TO-ONE:
(x),then the following are true:
Given a one-to-one function f(x) and its inverse
1.The inverse of is f(x).
2.f((x))= x , for all x in the domain of
3.(f(x))= x , for all x in the domain of f(x)
