ABSTRACT
The proposed project introduces a Blockchain-Based Product Authentication and Management System
designed to enhance product traceability, authenticity, and transparency. The system integrates blockchain
technology to securely store product information and digital signatures generated from barcode images,
ensuring tamper-proof data storage. The platform comprises two primary roles: Admin and User. Admins
can log in, add new products with associated bar-code images, generate digital signatures, and store
product metadata in a decentralized ledger. They can also view uploaded products and registered users.
Users, after signing up and logging in, can retrieve product details using product IDs or barcode images.
The authentication processcross-verifies barcode digital signatures stored on the blockchain, effectively
detecting tampered or counterfeit products. Overall, the system enhances trust between manufacturers,
administrators, and end consumers in various product ecosystems.
INTRODUCTION
Counterfeit products pose a significant threat across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, luxury
goods, electronics, and food supply chains. These fake products not only result in financial losses for
companies but also endanger consumer safety and trust. Traditional methods of authentication, such as
holograms or serial numbers, have proven vulnerable to tampering and replication.
Each step in the supply chain — manufacturing, shipping, distribution, and retail — can be recorded as a
transaction on the blockchain. By scanning a product’s QR code or NFC tag, consumers and stakeholders can
access its entire history and verify its authenticity and ensure that only validated transactions are added to the
product’s record. This reduces the need for intermediaries and minimizes the risk of fraud.
