• Two basic types of software:
➢ System software: Operation system
and utility programs
➢ Application software: used to do tasks

End User License Agreement (EULA)
Agreement between user and company
States the following:

➢ Whether copies can be made
➢ Number of installations allowed
➢ Warranties
Multiuser licenses might be available

perform various tasks required at home, school, and
business
• Horizontal market software is a type of application
software that is useful in a wide range of industries
➢ Commercial: Microsoft Office
➢ Web-based: Microsoft Office Online and Google

• Most widely used application
• Used to create and edit documents such as CV, research
papers and Class notes
• Examples: Microsoft Word, WordPerfect Office, and Open Office

b) Spreadsheet Software
• Performs calculations and numerical analysis (formulas
and functions)
• Examples: Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice Calc, and Apple

• Used to make slide show presentations
• Tips for designing good presentations:
