INTRODUCTION
to cyber security initiatives in
india
With the rapid growth of digital technology, cyber threats
have become a major concern.

India has seen a sharp rise in cybercrimes, including

hacking, phishing, ransomware attacks, and data breaches.

The Indian government has introduced various

cybersecurity initiatives to protect individuals, businesses,
and national security.

These initiatives aim to strengthen cyber laws, create

awareness, and build a secure digital infrastructure.

1. National Cyber Security
Policy
India's National Cyber Security Policy 2013 is a comprehensive
framework designed to fortify the nation's cyber infrastructure and
safeguard its digital frontiers.
The main aim of this policy is to address the complexities of cyber threats and
enhance cyberspace's security and resilience through various key components
and targeted strategies

The Government of India's Department of Electronics and Information Technology

drafted the first National Cybersecurity Policy (NCSP) in 2013, focusing on building a
secure and resilient cyberspace for India's citizens, businesses, and government.
Objective of National Cyber Security
Policy
1. Building capacities to prevent and response to cyber
security
threats.

2. Reducing vulnerabilities and minimizing damage from cyber

infrastructure.
2. Indian Cyber Crime Coordination
Centre (I4C)
I4C is a government initiative to deal with cybercrime in India ,in a coordinated and
effective manner. It was established by Ministry of Home Affairs ( MHA) ,in New
Delhi. The scheme was approved in October,2018 with a proposed amount of
415.86 crore.

2.Nodal point=14C serves as a central point for tackling cybercrime issues in the
country.
3.Strengthening fight against cyber crime=14C aims to strengthen the fight against
cybercrime, particularly against women and children.
4. Public Awareness=14C aims to raise public awareness about cybercrime
prevention and safe online practices.

5. Capacity Building=It focuses on building the capacity of law enforcement

agencies, public prosecutors, and judicial officers in cybercrime investigation,
forensics, and related areas.
3. Cyber Swachhta Kendra (Botnet

Centre)
The "Cyber Swachhta Kendra (Botnet
Cleaning and Malware Analysis Centre) is a
part of the Government of India's Digital India
initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and
Information Technology (MeitY), aims to
create a secure cyber ecosystem by
detecting, analyzing, and mitigating botnet

The" Cyber Swachhta Kendra" (Botnet Cleaning and Malware Analysis Centre) is set
up in accordance with the objectives of the "National Cyber Security Policy", which
envisages creating a secure cyber eco system in the country.

It was established in February, 2017 with the primary aim of creating a secure cyber
ecosystem in India by detecting, analysing, and mitigating botnet infections and
malware.

This website provides information and tools to users to secure their

systems/devices.
This centre is being operated by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team
(CERT-In) under provisions of Section 70B of the Information Technology Act,
2000.

Digital India Initiative & Cybersecurity

The Digital India initiative, launched by the Government of India in 2015, aim to make India a
digitally strong country where people can easily acccess online services. One important part of
this initiative is ensuring that digital payments are safe and spreading awareness about
cybersecurity to protect people from online fraud.

1. Making Digital Payments

Secure
Today, many people use UPI, BHIM, Google Pay, Paytm, RuPay cards and Aadhar-based payments. But with
this, online fraud and hacking have alse increased. To keep digital payments safe, the government and banks
have taken several steps.
How the Government is Protecting Digital

How You Can Stay Safe While Making Digital
Payments:
Never share OTPs or passwords with
anyone.
Use strong passwords and enable extra security like fingerprint
lock.
Always check sender details before accepting UPI payment
requests.
Report any fraud immediately to your
bank
2. Cyber Awareness
Campaigns
As more people go online, cybercriminals are using
tricks like phishing (fake emails / messages) and
hacking to steal money and personal data. To protect
citizens, the government runs various awareness
campaigns.
