A computer is an electronic device that


manipulates information, or data. It has the
ability to store, retrieve, and process data. You
may already know that you can use a computer
to type documents, send email, play games, and
browse the Web. You can also use it to edit or
create spreadsheets, presentations, and even
videos.
WHAT IS COMPUTER LITERACY
• IS THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO
USE COMPUTERS EFFICIENTLY. COMPUTER
LITERACY CAN ALSO REFER TO SOMEONE’S
COMFORT LEVEL WITH
USING COMPUTER PROGRAMS AND OTHER
APPLICATIONS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED
WITH COMPUTERS. ANOTHER VALUABLE
COMPONENT OF COMPUTER LITERACY IS
KNOWING HOW COMPUTERS WORK AND OPERATE.
PARTS OF COMPUTER
Every computer is composed of two basic
components:
1. Hardware and
2. Software
Hardware includes the Physical features, which are
every part that you can either see or touch, for
example: monitor, case, keyboard, mouse, and
printer.
Software is a set of instructions, data, or
programs used to operate a computer and
execute specific tasks. Ex application software
like MS word app, excel, email apps, browsers
etc.
