Add a box over the entire image/slide. Use
white or black fill depending on the look
you’re going for and set transparency to a
level that makes the text readable and the
image still visible (this sample uses 50%
transparency – go to ’Shape Format’ then
‘Format Pane’ to get to transparency options).
Add a text box for your title. Using unique
fonts will help your message stand out. See
the resources page at the end of this
presentation for links to great free fonts.

transparency for this look
Follow ALL of the steps on the previous page
The only difference with this rectangle over
the image and the one from the page before
is that this has a gradient of colors.
I’ve chosen three gradient stops = 3
colors (you can do more or less)

This sample also follows the same steps as the
first example, but instead of putting a black
box (w/50% transparency) over the entire
image, we’ve made the box orange (37%
transparency) and a bit smaller, so that it only
covers a small part of the image so that the
text stands out.
We’ve also highlighted one word in the title
by making it a different color. Did you notice
on the previous slide (example 2), that we
highlighted one word by using a contrasting
font?

Image and text w/ corner accents

Components
text boxes
The basic of this slide are simple (full page
image + title text), but we’ve added a small
accent in the corners to add a little interest
You can see from the outlines that there are
four individual triangles in each corner. You
can use any colors you want. Add a little
transparency (optional). It’s ok that they hang
a little off the slide because in presentation-
mode, it will display only what’s on the slide.
Did you notice that this is the same effect we
use on our title slides?
Tip: once you’ve created the look in one
corner, group the items together (select all the
items, right click, select ‘group’), then copy &
paste the group, rotate, and put in the
opposing corner.

type the title.
For the ‘25’ with the image as it’s fill, start with
a picture and crop it to the approximate size
you want. Add the transparent turquois box
over it, then group the items together by
right-clicking and selecting ‘Group”, then
right-click and select “Save as Picture” Click
on 25’s text box and go to shape format.
