Introduction to customising
your module area
Getting Started with Minerva
Kirsten Thompson | OD&PL, University of Leeds
In this tutorial we are
going to explore the
Style features available
for customising your
module area and how
to implement them.
Options to design
the module area
can be found in the
Customisation area
of the Control
Panel.
Select the
dropdown arrow
next to
Customisation, to
expand the menu.
From the
Customisation
area, select
Style.
In the Style area, we will look
at:
1. Select Module Entry Point
2. Default Content View
3. Select Banner
By default the Module Entry
Point is set to the
Announcements page. You
can change the entry point
here if you wish.
Icon and Text View is the default. Both will be
associated with each piece of content you add.
Text Only is cleaner but it becomes even more
important to consider the language used to label
each piece of content added (icons used well,
are a great visual identifier for some learners).
The Icon Only option offers limited
value/removes descriptions.
Consider adding a banner to your module entry
point, to brand your space. You will need to
create your banner using software outside of
Minerva. The recommended size for a module
banner is1028 x 158 pixels.
Once you have changed the
Style settings, select Submit
at the bottom of the page/
A purple Success
receipt will appear at
the top of the screen
providing the actions
were completed as
requested.
The module banner is
now visible on the
Announcements page.
