Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills  A.) Availability of Study Place the study place is ready to use at hand or easily accessible if you are sharing it with others so need conversation to settle schedule in using it.
Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills B.) Study place is free from  distractions. the environment is quiet free; conducive for learning – clean and fresh  Maintain low level of time if tv’s and stereo are around
Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills C.) Study place is free from  interruptions. Hang on the door the sign “ DO NOT DISTURB ” for you to maintain focus and to continue on your studies “  DO NOT DISTURB ”
Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills D.) Study place contains all the study materials needed. includes reference sources (books, dictionaries, etc.), computer ( internet) and supplies ( pens and pencils, paper, ruler, calculator, etc.) that you might need
Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills E.) Study place contains large enough desk or table. When doing assignment or studying for a test, use large desk or table to hold everything you might need; spacious room and avoid cluttering
Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills F.) Study place should have enough storage space. for you to put study materials accordingly so that when you need it you can easily find and get it away
Part 1: Developing an Effective Study Skills H.) Study place should have enough light. for you to see clearly what you need to see without any strain or discomfort
Part 2: Strategies employed in Lecture  A.) Taking Notes in Class As the teacher talks about topics you are studying, the information they provide is very important especially when you take test. You must able to take good written notes from what she says.
Part 2: Strategies employed in Lecture Taking Notes in Class Taking good notes is a three- stage process ( before, during, after, class). 1. Get ready to take notes (before class) review your previous notes complete all assigned readings bring all the note taking materials
Part 2: Strategies employed in Lecture Taking Notes in Class Taking good notes is a three- stage. 2. Take Notes ( During Class) focus your attention on what the  teacher is saying “ signal statements” is important to write in your notes  ( “the most important point..”, and “ remember that..”) write information that is always repeating/ writing in the chalkboard write quickly to include important information using abbreviated words, using symbols as % for percent and writing short sentences
Part 2: Strategies employed in Lecture Taking Notes in Class Taking good notes is a three- stage. 3. Rewrite your notes ( After Class) review notes to make them more complete make notes more accurate use textbooks and reference source ask teacher/ student help in necessary  check with other student to be sure that you did not skip out important information
Part 2: Strategies employed in Lecture Taking Notes in Class Taking good notes is a three- stage. Therefore, good notes will help you to be better prepared for test. = 100% Perfect
Part 3: Preferred Learning Style per Group Member LEARNING STYLE-   is a way in which you learn best. 3 Learning Styles a .) Auditory Learner learner learned best in auditory format b.) Visual Learner learner best learned in a written language format or in pictures/ diagram c.) Auditory Learner learner learned best in hand- on learning setting in which they can physically manipulate something in order to learn about
Part 4: Strategies for Reading in Class/ Texts SQRW-   is a four step strategy for reading and taking notes from chapters in a textbook SURVEY- brings to mind that what you already know about   such topics of chapter and prepares you for learning more  read title, introduction, headings, summary or conclusion examine all visuals ( pictures, table, map, and/ or graphs and read the caption) you will quickly learn what the chapter is about
Part 4: Strategies for Reading in Class/ Texts SQRW-   is a four step strategy for reading and taking notes from chapters in a textbook QUESTION- gives purpose for reading and help you stay focused on the reading assignment  use words who, what, when, where, why or how READ- read information to find answer in your to each question you formed stay focus and flexible
Part 4: Strategies for Reading in Class/ Texts SQRW-   is a four step strategy for reading and taking notes from chapters in a textbook QUESTION- write each question and its answer in your notebook reread answer to be sure if it is legible and contains all important information needed to answer the question. Therefore, using SQRW you find to learn more and have good study notes to use to prepare in class participation.
Part 5: Test Taking Strategies DETER-   -  this test will allow you to show  what you know -  help you do your best on any test Directions read test direction very carefully ask teacher to explain anything about lest directions you do not understand following directions can achieve good score  not following directions, will not able to demonstrate what you know
Part 5: Test Taking Strategies DETER-   -  this test will allow you to show  what you know -  help you do your best on any test Examine examine the entire test knowing the entire task can break down into parts that become manageable for you Time decide how much time you will spend each item if some items counts for most points, plan to spend the most time on it avoid spending so much time on one item that you have little time left for other test item
Part 5: Test Taking Strategies DETER-   -  this test will allow you to show  what you know -  help you do your best on any test Easiest answer the test items you find easiest first Review if you planned your time correctly, you will have time to review your answers and make them complete and accurate as possible review test directions to be certain you have answered all test items required
