Delivery to the Internet: Reaching Audiences Any Time, Any PlaceOnFrame Ltd
Broadcast is no longer the only show

TV and film content to the masses. In
recent years the consumption of such
content over Internet-enabled devices
has exploded.
From connected TV and consoles to tablets and mobiles, there is a rush to dominate the Internet
TV service proposition and offer TV anytime, anyplace and in high definition.
For consumers, this is a great time as TV and film services become richer, more customisable and

For content owners it’s a mixed bag of increased opportunity and increased operational pain. Content
owners can no longer bet on a single Internet TV platform - they must sweat value from their content by
leveraging multiple deals to stay in the game. The fulfilment and delivery side of things can be incredibly
painful and costly with content preparation and repurposing costs often negating the commercial upsides
for smaller deals. However, the same technologies that have enabled Internet TV have enabled file-based
workflows and digital delivery that help overcome this.

Frankly monetization is still a mystery for a lot of developers and entrepreneurs. Obviously having a monetization model that helps in sustaining an app over time and generate a steady stream of revenue is highly desirable by everyone. In this session we will go through various monetization models that have been used successfully by a variety of apps (mobile, gaming, device, social, ecommerce, etc.), with some example of how some apps/start-ups have evolved their monetization strategy over time and some tips on where to start.
This document discusses various business models and how to choose the right one for a startup idea. It outlines several options for business models including free for users with other revenue sources, paid users with various monetization tactics, and third parties paying the bills through approaches like advertising, affiliate marketing, or data reselling. It also discusses mixed or subsidized models. The document cautions against common mistakes in startup business models like ideas that require mass adoption to work or fighting trends rather than adapting to changes.
This document discusses building powerful subscription sites that can scale. It begins by defining subscriptions and discussing the rise of the subscription economy. It then discusses how to scale both technically and from a business perspective. Various ways to implement subscriptions in WordPress are presented, ranging from using off-the-shelf plugins to a bespoke plugin or microservice architecture. Integrating a SaaS solution is presented as allowing for rapid deployment with less development work. Key considerations for choosing a subscription platform include developer friendliness, payment processing, access to data and reporting.
Self-Publishing - A workshop at NeON by GamesbriefNicholas Lovell
The document summarizes key points from a presentation by Nicholas Lovell on self-publishing and running a game development business.
The presentation covered:
1. Understanding the roles and team sizes needed at developers versus publishers. Larger publishers may have 40 staff across various roles like development, operations, marketing, and finance.
2. The importance of acquiring, retaining, and monetizing users (known as "ARM") to funnel them into profits. Effective marketing focuses on reducing the number of steps in the conversion funnel.
3. The majority of revenues often come from a very small percentage of "whale" users who spend the most. Business models should allow high spending users to spend unlimited amounts.
The document summarizes key points from a presentation by Nicholas Lovell on self-publishing and running a game development business.
The presentation covered:
1) Who does what roles at a developer studio versus a game publisher. Publishers take on functions like sales, marketing, customer support, and analytics.
2) The concept of acquiring, retaining, and monetizing users (ARM) to maximize profits through the "funnel" of unique users to paying users. Conversion rates at each step are important.

Online Video: Threat or Opportunity (2012 NAB Show)Andrew Taylor
The online video market represents both a threat and an opportunity. Video viewership has shifted to "video snacking" on short clips instead of full episodes. While traditional media struggles with high production costs and unclear paths to profitability, video aggregators that distribute content across sites have seen rapid growth. Only companies like AOL that have embraced off-site distribution and acquired content platforms have managed to grow their online video audiences faster than the market as a whole. To succeed, media companies must lower production costs, distribute content beyond their own sites, and partner with technologies that enhance distribution.
This document discusses different business models and provides examples of each. It categorizes business models into 5 categories: 1) free for users, 2) paid by users, 3) paid by third parties, 4) broker/matchmaking models, and 5) mixed/subsidized models. Within each category, it highlights various monetization strategies and provides real-world examples to illustrate each strategy. The overall purpose is to help those looking to monetize their ventures by understanding different business model options and patterns that have worked for other companies.

This document discusses and compares traditional and e-business models. It outlines that e-business models rely more heavily on information and alliances, and have created new ways to generate revenue. E-business models allow for greater speed in product creation and time to market. The document also categorizes different types of e-business models including B2B, B2C, B2B2C, C2B, and C2C models. It examines various frameworks for classifying e-business models and lists some common sources of revenue for different e-business approaches.
1. The document discusses several business model patterns including unbundling businesses, long tail models, multi-sided platforms, and free business models.
2. Unbundling businesses involves separating a company's infrastructure, customer relationship, and product innovation business units. Long tail models focus on selling a large number of niche products in low volumes.
3. Multi-sided platforms create value by facilitating interactions between distinct but interdependent customer groups, addressing the "chicken and egg" problem by subsidizing one customer group to attract the other.

Neural representations have shown the potential to accelerate ray casting in a conventional ray-tracing-based rendering pipeline. We introduce a novel approach called Locally-Subdivided Neural Intersection Function (LSNIF) that replaces bottom-level BVHs used as traditional geometric representations with a neural network. Our method introduces a sparse hash grid encoding scheme incorporating geometry voxelization, a scene-agnostic training data collection, and a tailored loss function. It enables the network to output not only visibility but also hit-point information and material indices. LSNIF can be trained offline for a single object, allowing us to use LSNIF as a replacement for its corresponding BVH. With these designs, the network can handle hit-point queries from any arbitrary viewpoint, supporting all types of rays in the rendering pipeline. We demonstrate that LSNIF can render a variety of scenes, including real-world scenes designed for other path tracers, while achieving a memory footprint reduction of up to 106.2x compared to a compressed BVH.
