Although I am trained as both a researcher in the basic biomedical sciences and as a veterinary clinician, I define myself as a teacher. My over-arching goal is to help veterinary students make connections between the basic and the clinical sciences, and thus develop a conceptual framework that will allow them to reason, to make predictions, and to make rational therapeutic decisions. More specifically, I hope to show students that by learning cell biology, they will deepen their understanding of the structural and functional organization of cells, tissues, organs, and, ultimately, of whole animals.
