Why? As Cynefin framework says, in chaotic environments it is no longer enough to sense and analyze, the only way to learn about the system is to actively probe and act and then observe - change the product a bit, test a prototype or a concept with users, collect data, and iterate.
Being both designer and analyst, I enjoy doing quick turnarouds of this learning loop.
