A flexible framework for Spaces The IBM spaces technology can be re-used to build any community model * Spaces allows for syndication of its content to popular mashup sites, introducing developer gizmos …
developer gizmos from IBM… Bring spaces and developerWorks feeds to your favorite mashup page! It’s all about you: customized developerWorks tools & technologies brought to your home page. Developer gizmos from IBM provide the power of syndication simply with the click of the mouse. No programming required. Select any community topic space portlet or developerWorks custom feed you are interested in and instantly create a Google Gadget, Netvibes module or MyYahoo Widget. Now available on iGoogle, Netvibes and MyYahoo , and coming soon to your favorite syndication mashup including Facebook, My Space, your personal blogging engine(s), Second Life, mobile devices and more… We intend on making gizmos pervasive across our site , so that more more & more content can be earmarked by the user for further syndication. Coming soon…
developer gizmos from IBM: Introducing a simple syndication model Concept: Simplify syndication and re-syndication of your website content. Step 1: User exports developerWorks content using a developer gizmo from IBM. developerWorks content now resides on the users’ syndicated mashup home page of choice. (MySpace, My Yahoo, Netvibes, iGoogle, Facebook, etc) Step 2: Visitor comes to user’s mashup home page and sees developerWorks gizmo content. Through this model, visitor is able to export this content to their syndicated mashup site of choice. And so on… Today, the dW custom feeds application makes this possible. A user can place the custom html feeds on their personal site and these feeds can be exported as Google gadgets to any visitor’s iGoogle mashup home page. Our plan is to extend this model outward in the near future.
Exporting developerWorks spaces content With a single click export any developerWorks spaces portlet as a Google Gadget, Netvibes Module or Yahoo Widget. By leveraging Ajax, these gizmos remain completely synchronized with the developerWorks community topic space they originated from.
dW everywhere custom feeds Have it your way: create your own custom developerWorks Google Gadgets, Netvibes Modules, Yahoo Widgets directly from the dW custom feed application. Plus, export any custom developerWorks feed(s) as html to an existing site using the dW everywhere app and your visitors can export the feeds to their iGoogle, MyYahoo or Netvibes page. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/views/rss Never miss an important developerWorks offer again: the “dW scrolling offers marquee” accompanies all dW content exported as Google gadgets or Netvibes modules.
developerWorks Google Desktop Gadget The Google Desktop Gadget brings developerWorks to the user’s desktop Using a simple interface the user can select/deselect what zones/brands they want to view, these settings can be altered at anytime. Additionally, in under a minute, no refresh or update necessary, developerWorks can append the latest news, offerings, and upcoming events right to the user’s desktop widget. Edit state
Scroll through the list of developerWorks zones/brands, Select a topic with the touch of a finger, View the feeds, read an abstract or visit developerWorks All on your iPhone. ibm.com/developerworks/iphone
