  Initial Reaction • Myfirst reaction to the FMP was to revisit my print project. This is the project that I have done the best in throughout the year, and the one that I enjoyed the most. It seems fitting to carry on with that and create something like my magazine again. However, I want to change the style of my magazine. Instead of going for a glitch theme, I want to go for a more artsy/edgy style. Similar to the style of magazines such as i-D or AnOther Magazine. These use the art of photography to advertise, rather then focussing on one subject. I like the styles of this magazine because it opens so many different ideas that I can use in my magazine. It also means that every page can be in a different style, rather then having to follow the same structure, unlike magazines like Vogue which stick to one style for each magazine. The consistency of Vogue puts me off the idea of creating a full on fashion mag, whereas the inconsistency and pure freedom of the pages in i-d or AnOther Magazine, pulls me in more. It means that I am able to have full creative freedom over this project. • I also thought of doing a video to go alongside this project. The video could be a short documentary about the models or an art video which co-insides with the style of the magazine or a perfume advert. I want to do this, so I can use both print and video. The music video project we did, made me realise that I was actually quite good at video work – filming, editing, planning etc, and I want to combine my two favourite projects into one big one. I want the video and the magazine to go hand in hand, so they reference each other. I already watch quite a lot of fashion art videos, do by designer brands as a way of marketing their collections. These brands will also make dramatic perfume adverts, to draw the viewer in to buy the perfume. Researching these adverts will help inspire me when I am making the video to match my magazine.

  Initial Reaction 2 •My second idea for my FMP was to create another music video. However, this time I would make more of a vintage style video – using camcorders to make the video seem more authentic and vintage. I want to create a video inspired by 90s fashion and culture. Ariana Grande and Victoria Monet did this style of video for their song Monopoly. I really like watching vintage style music videos, which include 90s phones and recording equipment. I like this style of video as most of the music I listen to is from the 90s or early 2000s. • I might use this style for my video to go alongside the article. I really like the style of the 90s and 2000s and want to weave that into my FMP. I have a full working 90s camcorder available to me so I can do this easily. The accessories like phones, clothes or bags may be a bit harder to come across, meaning I will have to hunt down models who already own these products to make the video more authentic. Luckily, I do know at least 2/3 people who dress similar to the aesthetics that I would like to include in my FMP, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

  Mood Board Analysis Isthere any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood • One of the common themes in my mood board is nature. The photographers I looked at use nature in their photography. A few even go as far as to do nude photography and use the human body as a form of art. Looking at photographer Min Hyun-moo, she uses natural resources and the weather to make her photos neutral. Ryan McGinley also uses nature in a similar way to Hyun-moo. He goes a step further and has most of his models nude when doing photoshoots. However, I am mostly going to research his shoot with Harry Styles for The Rolling Stones magazine. • The most common theme on my mood board is people. All the photos I looked at all included people, them being the focus of the photos. They all focus on the model while using nature to exenterate the main focus. I want to use people to convey art/culture in m project, so having loads of examples by different photographers will help me immensely. How will your mood board influence your final product? • They style and placement in the photos will influence my product as I can use them as a reference to my own pictures. The placement of the models shows me how I can use nature to make the model stand out – the use of the elements can also help me manipulate my photos. I will make sure to reference my mood boards as I take my photos, to make sure that I keep in line with my research.

  Mood Board Analysis Isthere any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood • The adverts use contrasting colours in their videos. For example, black and gold, lilac and light blue with hints of orange then, green, pinks and purples. This keeps the video aesthetics and consistent throughout the whole video. The colour that ‘pops’ more is usually the colour of the perfume bottle itself, whether it is gold, or orange or green – it will most likely be the more common colour seen throughout the video. This makes the bottle seem more dominant across the screen at the end when the bottle pops up on screen or when the model is holding it. How will your mood board influence your final product? • Looking at adverts like these will help me be able to construct my own. Looking at these screen clippings taken from the adverts will help me visualise the placement of objects or the shots I should be doing in order to create the best advert that I can. Even the audio will help, as I will have to potentially edit a song for my video to go to. I will watch more perfume videos, work out the average length then try cutting down different songs to fit this time length.
