   My initialthoughts are that it needs to be a very clear straightforward film, the plot needs to be simple enough to be fully conveyed in 60-90 seconds but still have enough depth to stay interesting. I am a decent cinematographer and I think I generally know how to frame a shot and/or what needs to be in a shot.  The first idea that came to my mind was someone sat in car with a note reading instructions of how to set a detonation, he then enters college and sets the detonation, he then accidentally instead of setting it to 10 minutes sets the timer to 10 seconds, he says ‘that wasn’t supposed to happen’ and the explosion goes off.

   The moodboard has an overall very warm feel and tone, the images are all quite yellow yet the colours are quite dull and not overly saturated/bright. In these images, the highlights and mid tones are yellow, and the shadows contrast them with a subtle teal tint. Overall the lighting tends to be quite soft and relatively full though still leaving shading where necessary. The images look warm and bland they don’t really make you feel much particular emotion as this sort of yellow bland tint is quite natural and common. Therefore we just feel comfortable and ‘regular’ this is ideal as I want to use that colour style for the end of my short film when it is realised that the ‘bomb’ is a confetti bomb not a real bomb, neutralizing the situation, therefore the ‘regular’ colour grade is appropriate. I will use the images collected to create a colour palette for my film that I will then use while colour grading during the editing process.

   The moodboard is supposed to have a colder more distant colour composition, the green blue and grey/black tones are hostile and uncomfortable, they make you feel cold and make the mood of the shot dark and gloomy. The highlights and mid tones range from being light blue/teals to light oranges and greens. The lighting compliments the shots by being quite harsh, there are lots of shadows and limited lighting. Furthermore the lighting tends to come from dim sources such as a dim bathroom light, computer monitors or street decorations/street lights. As I mention this type of colour grade makes us uncomfortable as we associate it with the night and therefore consequently danger. This is why blue/teal colour grades are often used to build up tension as we are subconsciously kept on our toes and stay more aware than we would in the yellow surroundings I mentioned earlier (mood board 1). I will use this mood board to create a second colour palette that I will use for the first half of my short film, it will provide the film with a colour tone that will enable me to build suspense which will lead to the climax of my film being humorous rather than the expected horror.

   I willneed to research for electronic watch/clock faces and I will have to find one that is programmable so that it can be used for the timer.  I will need to research a location for the actual ‘planting of the bomb’ as college is not an appropriate environment for the scene.  Alternatively I could film the whole thing in one location, which I would also need to research.  I would like to research dolly zooms and how to most effectively do them.  I would like to research something I saw in a Sherlock Holmes I am not sure what the name of it is, however this effect caught my eye as I had never seen it before and it gave the scene a very strange, hyper realistic feeling.
