The Collect
The First
Reading
A reading from the prophet
Isaiah:
Thus says the Lord, who
made a way through the sea,
a path in the great waters;
who put chariots and horse in
the field and a powerful army
which lay there never to rise
again, snuffed out, put out
like a wick: No need to recall
the past, no need to think
about what was done before.
See, I am doing a new deed,
even now it comes to light;
can you not see it? Yes, I am
making a road in the
wilderness, paths in the
wilds. The wild beasts will
honour me, jackals and
ostriches, because I am
putting water in the
wilderness (rivers in the wild)
to give my chosen people
drink. The people I have
formed for myself will sing
my praises.
The Word
of the Lord
Thanks be to God.
What marvels the
Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.
The Psalm
When the Lord delivered Zion
from bondage, it seemed like
a dream. Then was our mouth
filled with laughter, on our
lips there were songs.
The Psalm
What marvels the
Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.
The Psalm
The heathens themselves
said: ‘What marvels the Lord
worked for them!’ What
marvels the Lord worked for
us! Indeed we were glad.
The Psalm
What marvels the
Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.
The Psalm
Deliver us, O Lord, from our
bondage as streams in dry
land. Those who are sowing
in tears will sing when they
reap.
The Psalm
What marvels the
Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.
The Psalm
They go out, they go out, full
of tears, carrying seed for the
sowing: they come back, they
come back, full of song,
carrying their sheaves.
The Psalm
What marvels the
Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.
The Psalm
The Second
Reading
A reading from the letter of
St Paul to the Philippians
I believe nothing can happen
that will outweigh the
supreme advantage of
knowing Christ Jesus my
Lord. For him I have
accepted the loss of
everything, and I look on
everything as so much
rubbish if only I can have
Christ and be given a place
in him. I am no longer trying
for perfection by my own
efforts, the perfection that
comes from the Law, but I
want only the perfection that
comes through faith in
Christ, and is from God and
based on faith. All I want is
to know Christ and the power
of his resurrection and to
share his sufferings by
reproducing the pattern of
his death. That is the way I
can hope to take my place in
the resurrection of the dead.
Not that I have become
perfect yet: I have not yet
won, but I am still running,
trying to capture the prize for
which Christ Jesus captured
me. I can assure you my
brothers, I am far from
thinking that I have already
won. All I can say is that I
forget the past and I strain
ahead for what is still to
come; I am racing for the
finish,
for the prize to which God
calls us upwards to receive
in Christ Jesus.
The Word
of the Lord
Thanks be to God.
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal
glory!
Now, now – it is the Lord who
speaks – come back to me with
all your heart, for I am all
tenderness and compassion.
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal
glory!
Gospel Acclamation
The Lord be with you.
And with your spirit.
A Reading from the holy Gospel
according to Luke.
Glory to you, O Lord.
The Gospel
Jesus went to the Mount of
Olives. At daybreak he
appeared in the Temple again;
and as all the people came to
him, he sat down and began
to teach them.
The scribes and Pharisees
brought a woman along who
had been caught committing
adultery; and making her
stand there in full view of
everybody, they said to
Jesus, ‘Master, this woman
was caught in the very act of
committing adultery, and
Moses has ordered us in the
Law to condemn women like
this to death by stoning.
What have you to say?’ They
asked him this as a test,
looking for something to use
against him. But Jesus bent
down and started writing on
the ground with his finger.
As they persisted with their
question, he looked up and
said, ‘If there is one of you
who has not sinned, let him
be the first to throw a stone at
her.’
Then he bent down and wrote
on the ground again. When
they heard this they went
away one by one, beginning
with the eldest, until Jesus
was left alone with
the woman, who remained
standing there. He looked up
and said, ‘Woman, where are
they? Has no one condemned
you?’ ‘No one, sir’ she
replied.
‘Neither do I condemn you,’
said Jesus ‘go away, and do
not sin any more.’
The Gospel of the Lord
Praise to you, Lord
Jesus Christ.
I believe in God, the Father
almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only
Son, our Lord,
The Apostles’
who was conceived by the
Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
The Apostles’
was crucified, died and was
buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again
from the dead;
The Apostles’
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right
hand of God the Father
almighty;
The Apostles’
from there he will come to
judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
The Apostles’
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen
The Apostles’

baptised, and the entire world, may come
to share fully in the life which Christ
brings us through his suffering, death
and resurrection.
1. Let us pray for the Church, the Body of
Christ, especially for Francis our Pope and
Vincent our Bishop. May the Church continue
to proclaim the saving power of Christ's cross
and resurrection, by which we are raised from
the death of sin to a new life of grace. Lord

All: Lord graciously hear us
2. Let us offer a prayer of gratitude for all
the marvellous gifts that we daily receive at
the hands of God.

sorrow, that they may believe that their
sufferings are taken up by Christ into his

6. In a few moments of silence, we pray for
our personal needs, especially those
mentioned in our Intentions Book…
We ask Mary, who stood at
the foot of the Cross of her
Son, to pray with us as we
say:
Hail Mary, full of grace. The
Lord is with thee. Blessed
art thou among
women, and blessed
is the fruit of
thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother
of God, pray for us
sinners, now and
at the hour of our
death. Amen.
Celebrant: Father, have mercy on
your Church in its need, hear the
prayers we offer with all our hearts,
and never abandon the people who
share your life. We ask this through
Christ our Lord. Amen.
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

of your glory. Hosanna in the

comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
We proclaim your death,
O Lord, and profess your

Memorial Acclamation
Through him, and with him, and in
him, O God, almighty Father, in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and
honour is yours, for ever and ever.
All: Amen!
Our Father who
art in heaven,
hallowed be thy
name, thy
kingdom come,
thy will be done,

not into
temptation,
but deliver
us from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every
evil, graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy, we may
be always free from sin and safe from
all distress, and useless worry, as we
await the blessed hope and the coming
of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

power, and the glory are
yours, now and forever.
Lord Jesus Christ, who said
to your Apostles, Peace I

you, look not on our sins, but
on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her
peace and unity in
accordance with your will.
Who live and reign for ever
and ever. Amen

my roof, but only say the
word and my soul shall be
healed.
Invitation to Communion
God our Father, slow to anger,
abounding in mercy,

cannot find our way to you,
you are always faithful when we are
unfaithful.

the house of sinners,
you sat at the table of the
poor,
you accepted the Cross,
your throne of mercy.
Holy Spirit, you pour your
healing gifts over our wounds,
you anoint us to bring good
news to the poor,
you send us out as
missionaries of mercy.
God of Mercies, have mercy on
us, so that where sin abounds,
your grace may abound all the
more,
and we shall become merciful
like you. Amen.
We pray, almighty God, that we may
always be counted among the members
of Christ, in whose Body and Blood we
have communion. Who lives and reigns
for ever and ever.
