This magazine
comes from the
80s, where it was
more common to
buy a physical
magazine
Unlike the others,
the masthead on
this magazine
doesn’t have a
super recognizable
font
Usually featured
next to the
barcode
The menu strip on
this magazine isn’t
too good as you can
hardly read it with
the colours
Not sure who that is,
but I assume he was
famous in the early
80s.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– The magazines I have researched all have a bold masthead. This
is an effective example of using flashy colours and big letters to
draw in audiences
– The magazines from the 2000s both have a barcode on the
bottom left, whereas the one from the 80s only has a price on
it. This shows the change of how we consume media. With the
use of technology to read magazines, raising the prices of a
printed version make more of a profit.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your
on work?
– My work will have a big masthead to try and draw in audiences
and will take inspiration from older magazines with just the
price on it. This is justified because my magazine is aimed at an
older audience so having a retro look might appeal to them.
