The 2000s saw significant growth and changes in film technology and budgets. 3D films became more common due to advances in computer animation. Blockbuster films had budgets that increased from $15 million to over $300 million. While most films increased in budget, some low budget films like Primer and Paranormal Activity were also successful. The highest grossing film domestically was Avatar with a budget of $237 million and US gross of $760 million. By the late 2000s, international box office made up around two-thirds of film industry sales globally.
