The study focused on inducing mutations in kdml105 rice using gamma-ray irradiation to improve traits such as photo insensitivity, short stature, short harvest age, and drought tolerance. Four promising mutated lines (kdml105’ 10gr-tu-70-3, kdml105’ 10gr-tu-70-6, kdml105’ 10gr-tu-70-8, and kdml105’ 10gr-tu-70-10) showed significant improvements in seed yields, performing better than the original kdml105 variety under both upland and transplanting conditions. The selected lines maintained desirable cooking qualities comparable to kdml105, promising better agricultural sustainability for farmers.
