Experiments

Front Cover Process
I edited the title and subtitles to be a
darker color so it would look natural
with the image I’d chosen to use. I
made the text in all capitals so it
would be eye-catching
I had the main appeal of the magazine be the
interview with Childish Gambino as it’s star
power that would boost the popularity of the
magazine and make it stand out. I used a
brighter colored text and had my font on a black
back ground so it would be the first thing the
reader would see.
I included a barcode to make it
seem like the front cover of a real
magazine
I made the purpose of the magazine clear as I
used language that related to the topic of music
and placed it on a area that was easy to see
Reflection
– A single image front cover that focuses on the main
appeal of the magazine would be good to include in
my actual front cover as it would give an audience
appeal.
– I plan to keep a bold text that looks consistent with
the image on the front cover as design is a large factor
of appeal with the magazine.
– I want to keep the bar code and sub headings for my
final front cover but I also want to include page
numbers and more details of the content
– I could improve the appeal of the actual front cover
by having a famous person addressed on the front
cover which worked with the practice magazine.
Double Page Process
I used the outer glow
blending option to make
the text feel related to the
image which worked well
aesthetically
I made the title of the double page spread stand out
by using all capital letters, bright color and the
artists name to draw the readers attention as the
interview is the main appeal of my practice
magazine.
One side of my magazine is
the text that split into three
different boxes and would
focus of three topics of the
interview. The second half
of the page is the the front
cover for the album
Reflection
– In the magazine I plan to use elements of my
practice double spread such as the text which
stands out and works well with the image that I
use.
– I could improve my double page layout by
decreasing the size of the image or putting it in
the centre to make room for more text over the
two pages.
– I plan to have my writing in boxes like I did for this
practice however I may change that if it doesn’t fit
the style of a film review or comparison.
