Research
Strengths of my research: I think that making experiments for my work helped my
final products as it meant that I had an idea of how to include certain techniques in
my research.
I think that I have gone into good detail when researching existing products.
Weaknesses: I think that my audience research could have been better. I think that I
should have interviewed a wider range of ages and a bigger amount of people. I
don’t think that it is really fair research when there is only 8 people being asked
and there are a higher amount of men being asked than women.
Something else I think would improve my work is if I analysed a few more movie
trailers. I think that I should have researched some more teaser trailers since this is
what I was making. This could have given me a few more ideas for my final
product.
I didn’t do too much research in merchandise for movies. Considering I was making
some merchandise as well doing more research could have meant I made a wider
variation of styles and products.
Planning
My planning helped my product for when I was filming as I knew what things I
needed in the videos, for example what camera angles I needed, who was going to
be acting and the clothes being worn.
My planning also meant that I knew what techniques I needed to research, for
example I knew I had to research after effects as I need to know how to make a
gunshot effect.
Also, the fact I knew who I wanted to play who in the trailer was helpful as I knew
what days they were all available to get everything filmed.
From my planning I knew what sort of clothing and items I needed me and Joe to
wear.
My mood boards helped me as they gave me an idea of what I wanted the characters
and locations to be like, it also gave me an idea of things I could do for my
production such as a teaser trailer.
Weaknesses of my planning- I think I should have thought more about key influences.
There were only really a few that I had in mind and I didn’t go into too much detail
over how they influenced me.
Time Management
I have spent my time terribly on this project. I spent too much time on production
and not enough time on the pro-formas.
I am fairly happy with most of my production, but I am not as happy with all my other
work as I was a bit behind so it isn’t all up to the standard that I would have liked
for it to be.
If I had more time to produce my work, I would have just made everything a higher
quality and made sure that I got all my work finished as a lot of it isn’t fully
complete or isn’t done to a good level.
Also I would have created a better variation of merchandise including things such as
phone cases, stickers etc as well as the t-shirts.
Technical Qualities
One difference between
the two posters is that I
didn’t include the names of
the actors on mine. This is
because you would only
really show the actors
names if they are well
known because that way
people would recognize the
names and would want to
see the film. However if the
actors are not well known
then people wouldn’t
recognize the names so
there wouldn’t be any point
in saying.
Both films show release date in quite
a large font in a colour that is easy to
see on the background.
Both posters show weapons.
This way you can tell that
both movies are going to
contain violence and action
Both posters
feature a
tagline for the
film
Technical qualities
Both posters have a
plain background- no
location is shown.
Both posters have a tagline
Both of these
posters have the
same colour
scheme of red,
black and white.
Both feature
a release
date at
bottom of
poster
On the poster for Parker
there as social media links
at the bottom of the
poster but there are none
on mine.
Aesthetic Qualities
Strengths of poster 1: I think that one thing I have done well is I have made it so you can tell that it is a movie related to
crime. I included an image of Joe and a hitlist pinned up by a knife as if you look at the poster and see these things
altogether you will assume that the character in the image is a hitman.
I have used a good choice of fonts on this poster. The text for the logo looks good and is easy to read from the use of red
and black. The text saying august 7th is in a simple and easy to read font. The font I used for on the hitlist was in the style of
handwriting which I liked as it looks as if the main character wrote this.
Weaknesses of poster 1: I think that I included some things on the poster that were the wrong colour. For example the
universal logo at the bottom right corner of the poster is in blue. This means it is hard to see and read. I think I should have
done it in red or in black because that way it would be easier to read and also would stay in the colour scheme I used with
the rest of the text. Also the text that says pg-13 is very hard to read.
Aesthetic Qualities
Wanted poster
I am quite happy with the image I used for this poster. I like the background of a height chart. I think I chose a good choice
of clothing as smart clothing such as suits are often associated with gangsters so you can guess when looking at the poster
that my character is a gangster.
I like the text saying “Wanted” at the top of the poster as it is very bold and is easy to read with the red behind it.
Weaknesses: I think I could have used more of a variation of fonts for the text as I only used one font for the entire poster.
Something that I think ruins the poster a bit is that there is a bit too much text on the poster. I think that this poster would
have been more effective if I did include a bit less as then it would be easier and quicker to read. Having too much text
would put people off reading it so the poster would not serve its purpose.
The text saying the name of the character is quite small as well so if I was looking to let people know about this character in
the film I think that I have done a pretty bad job as you would need to get really close to the poster to even see his name.
Aesthetic qualities
Teaser poster
Strengths: I am happy with the shadow effect.
The logo is big and bold and the colours stand out on the white background.
I think that this is a decent teaser poster as it doesn't go into too much detail but gives you the
important things such as the name, release date and main character.
Weaknesses: I think I have done the tagline much too big. It is taking up space on the image of
the shadow. I also don’t really like the font choice that I used for it either.
Also I think that I should have used a different colour for the text saying August 7th as it blends
in a bit with Joe’s jeans making it a bit hard to read.
The photos are a little bit blurry.
I think I could have maybe made it a bit clearer that this is a movie about a hitman as I don’t
directly say that anywhere and looking at this poster I think that this film could easily mistaken
for something such as a school shooter. I should have said in the tagline.
Aesthetic qualities
Merchandise
Strengths- I like the design of me and Joe in black and white..
I like the images of me and Joe on the second shirt as well as you can tell that we are both
holding guns.
Weaknesses- I am not really happy with the text on my second T-shirt design. You can tell that it
has just been placed on with photoshop.
Aesthetic Qualities
Trailer
I am quite happy with my trailer. I think I did a good job making a teaser trailer as I think I show some of the core elements
of the film and what it is about but without giving away any too much of the plot.
I think that my use of after effects went well. When I show the explosion in the sunglasses I thought that this looked pretty
realistic.
Something else I think was a strength was the songs I used in the trailer. I think that the song ‘back in black’ was a good
song to choose as it is quite fast paced so it goes well with the short clips.
Weaknesses of trailer: The picture quality could definitely be a bit better and the lighting could be improved. I should have
maybe used a microphone when filming because the voices aren’t that clear.
There are little errors that I made when filming the video as well, for example in one scene you can clearly see the
reflection of me filming the video in the window, and in multiple shots I used the same locations.
Audience AppealOne part of my work that I think would appeal to my target audience is the main poster. On there I included a knife on the cover so people
looking at the poster can instantly tell that it is a movie related to crime. I also included a hit list as this instantly tells the audience that the main
character is a hitman.
From my audience research, I found that the way most people find out about new movies is through social media. To appeal to my audience I
have uploaded all my work onto a twitter account. Having a social media account is good as it means that my movie would be heard of by a lot
of people from many age ranges. Many different age ranges use social media, from teenagers to elderly people.
Also from my research, I found most of the people that did the survey were under-18. For this reason I wanted my movie to not be too violent
so I didn’t make the trailer extremely violent. Also in the trailer I included at the start the age rating of PG-13 as this means that it should be
suitable for people above the age of 13 but parents are strongly cautioned.
One question I asked in my audience research was where do you see posters for movies at the most. The one that the most people responded
to was at bus stops. This meant that I needed to make my poster clear as the posters on bus stops are quite big I think I have done this as I made
the films logo big and in a colour that stands out on the light coloured background. Billy The Bull is quite a memorable name that I think people
would remember.

Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
The trailer was really well shot and the visual effects
were really good. The explosion in the sunglasses is
really good and looks very true to life
The editing is really smooth as well, there aren't any
dodgy cuts and it flows nicely with the voice over.
I liked the poster designs as they are simple but
effective in saying what the film is about
I like the story as well. Seems like it would be an
interesting film to watch

Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
The trailer perfectly tells the beginning of the story. It does the job very well of
drawing people in so they would really want to see this on the big screen. As well as
this, the main movie poster looks great. It has the same style as the trailer and uses
items, such as the knife, to keep it close to the trailer, The font is also well suited to
the film as it’s big, exciting, and a little bit different. Everything goes together nicely.
The photos of the main character also work for the posters, as it portrays him as an
innocent, nice guy, which exactly the effect you wanted
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
For the trailer, make sure the aspect ratio is all the same size. Different scenes, such
as the explosion in the sunglasses, are smaller than others. The coming soon at the
end also needs to last longer. (As it’s a still image just go back to premier and drag the
length out, it won’t effect the quality.) On the wanted poster, the image of the
wanted man looks slightly misshapen from when the size was changed. Again, it’s a
quick fix but it could drastically improve the quality.

• What did you like about the product?
I like the video i think when you were sitting down speaking to the camera it’s
was clear and the camera shot isn’t bad. I like your posters i like the designs
its very different. I really like the sticky note with the name crossed out that’s
a nice touch.
What improvements could have been made to
the product?
I personally think the wanted poster is a little cramped together maybe if it was
a little bigger it might be easier to read. I also think the photo is a little
blurring, looks like it has just been placed there but still look good. Some parts
of the trailer is a little quiet, can’t really hear what you’re both saying and the
lighting is great.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree that the aspect ratio for
the videos should all be the same size. The reason it wasn’t was because I didn’t
know how to do this. I also agree that the coming soon is cut off too soon.
However I will change this as I just cut it out by accident when exporting.
I also agree that the audio of the trailer is a little bit quiet. I could change this just
by editing the sound on premiere.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? I think that whilst the image
on the wanted poster was a little blurry, I wanted the poster to look realistic and
in many real life wanted posters the images used aren’t perfect and they are often
quite blurry or have bad lighting.
Peer Feedback Summary
Based upon my feedback, I made changes for my video by increasing the screen size as this meant that my video looked a
lot better. I also updated my work so it shows ‘coming soon’ for longer.
I should have updated the sound to be a bit better as well because the audio is very quiet but I ran out of time.
I have updated the image of me on the wanted poster so it is a bit bigger.
I have also updated some of the white text on my main poster so it is easier to read.
