PRODUCTION
REFLECTION

PROCESS
First I opened up photo shop
and selected the photos that I
wanted to edit. I then went to
the task bar and selected ‘Filter
Gallery’ from the drop down
bar ‘Filter’.
PROCESS
I imported the image I wanted to edit and
then I went down to the magnification
setting and selected the option ‘fit on
screen’. I did this because it allows you to
see the full image rather than having to
zoom in and out.
After setting the magnification, I
looked at various effects that I
could use on my images. I found
that there was one effect that I
liked using, which was called
‘Cutout’. I used that for two of my
images, as you can see. I liked
this effect because it limits the
colour palette to an analogous
scale. I chose this effect because I
PROCESS
I also looked at trying to
overlap effects with other
effects as you can see in these
two photos. I liked some of
the outcomes I made by
merging two effects together
but decided not to use that in
my final product, since having
2/3 effects on one image
made it look untidy. I did this
because I wanted to see what
effects would work best with
the various images I’ve taken.
I think this effect would
appeal to my audience
because the style is quite
simple.
I tried using this effect
called ‘Glowing Edges’ to
see if it would work well
with my images. My only
problem with the effect is
that you can’t see the
image clearly. I did this
because I wanted to see
what effects would work
best with my images. I
think that this effect
wouldn’t appeal as much
to my audience since you
are unable to see the
image clearly.
I experimented with the
number of layers I could
use with the ‘cutout’
effect. I found that that
the number that worked
best was 5, this is
because you can still
see original parts of the
image and the effect
isn’t as obvious. I
decided to use this
effect because I think it
matches well with my
chosen theme. I think
this effect will also
appeal to my audience
because the style is
quite simple but it’s
also eye-catching.
I tried merging two different effects to see if
they would work well together and make the
image look appealing, which went well. I ended
up using two effects, ‘cutout’ and ‘plastic
wrap’. I decided to use these two effects
because I wanted to experiment to see what
PORTFOLIO
In order to create my Portfolio I chose the photos I had taken
previously and placed them into different slides along with my edits,
making sure to talk and go into detail about how I made the edits,
why I chose to make said edits/use certain effects and also talk about
what I could have done to improve my work. I chose more than one
image for each slide, making sure that each image was linked
together (e.g. they were taken at the same location and/or have some
sort of correlation with each other). Although the effects used in my
edits are quite similar (if not the same), I still used the effect since it
made my images look more appealing because of the detail it adds
(e.g. it adds more definition to certain parts of the image in which you
can edit in Photoshop). An advantage of using Photoshop to make my
product is that you’re able to alter any effects you choose, meaning
you can decide on how much of the original image you want to see
and how much of the effect you want. A weakness of using Photoshop
is that the range of effects provided are very limited in creativity,
meaning that they are all quite similar in style. This made it hard to
decide on what effects I wanted to use. In order to improve this, I
PROCESS: REFLECTION
An advantage of using the “Filter Gallery” is that there are
a lot of different effects to choose from. I think I will use
the same method of editing my photos as I did with my
experiments. I will do this because there a lot of effects
to use and I can also try to use more than just one effect
on one image. A disadvantage of using tools such as
“Filter Gallery” is that the effects all look slightly similar
(e.g. in terms of what the effects does to the image). A
weakness of using Photoshop to edit my images is that
there are a lot of tools to use and you can easily get
confused by it. I could avoid this by using another form
of software. I would do this because it would allow me to
see what other kinds of effects and tools I can use to edit
photos. Another advantage is that editing my images
using the effects given on Photoshop is not very time
consuming, meaning I will not be spending a huge
amount of time editing my images. This also means that
I will have more time to create my Portfolio as well as
