Production Reflection

Process
Gradient tool – the reason that I used the gradient tool was to add a little bit more to the texture of
the background so that it wasn’t just plain red but it ended up changing the background to something
that I felt that I did not like so I ended up removing it completely from it. I do not feel like I have
worked at all and was not necessary to the overall outcome of my logo.
Eraser – the reason that I used the rubber tool was because I had originally written production under
eclipse in a drawn font with the pencil tool and I had to remove it as it didn’t suit the name and it just
looked better with eclipse anyway I think and I feel like it was just there for the sake of it.
Pencil tool – I used the pencil tool to add productions under eclipse but I felt that this did not work
and I would probably add it to a different logo that I make if possible because I felt it did not fit with
this.
In this screen shot I have just made the company logo that I am going to include in the movie trailer at
the beginning of it. To use it I searched google for inspiration on finding text that I can use and
different shape designs. When making this I added in a free text peace that I found on Google a
template that I would be able to use. I used the pentagon shape to make a spiritual eye this is
because it is a horror and this way it makes it seem as though it is a horror film and a thriller and this
way it stands out well with and works well. The main idea of this is because that in the beginning of
the trailer like most trailers it has a company logo that stands out. I think that this is an important and
key part of my work as it shows my understanding on trailers and the process being putting different
parts of my work together.
Tools used
Paint bucket tool – I used the paint bucket tool to start with and the reason for this was so that
when I added the logos writing onto it, it would stand out, originally it wasn’t a red background
I made it orange and transparent but after I added in the eclipse logo, it was barley visible to
see so I made it red and since it’s a dark company I felt like I could use the red as iconography
to symbolise the violence in the films that they would put into production or just for this film
and I think that this was a nice little idea that to me stood out.
Shape tool one – I used the shape tool the fist time so that I could create a rectangle as an
under liner for the company title and changed the colour of it to dark grey to make sure that it
had the dark tone to appeal to my audience and I think that the colour that I chose does this.
The rectangle was changed later on so that it would line up and fir the title in terms of size, I
think that it fit the overall outcome nicely and I feel like this process was important to the way
that my end product shaped out at the end of it.
Fonts – I used the website http://www.1001fonts.com/ to find fonts that I would be able and
that fit the overall outcome of my product in a way that stood out. I had to scroll down lots of
different fonts in order to find a font that I could use such as the one that I have and to find a
font that fit in. the overall font that I chose had a unique look to it and style with parts of the
letters missing and that is why I chose it however I wanted to add my own unique look to it so I
added in a pentagon at the top of the eye and then changed the way that it looked. I think that
this font fits the main idea of the company logo really well and I am very pleased with the way
that it turned out and the font style had a lot of contributions to that. I feel like I wouldn’t find
another font to use because I am happy with the one that I chose and the overall outcome of
how it turned out on the page.
Shape tool 2 – for the second shape tool I chose a pentagon to cover the I and added bevel so
that it would stand out I had to make the pentagon the right size so that it would fit perfectly
above the eye and look like it was part of the font this is adding my own unique style to the
font and making it my own. I think that the pentagon fits well and stands out and I feel that If I
was to improve on it then I would add a shorter length to it because I think that the pentagon
should be eve on all sides but I have made it to tall trying to shrink it so I would change it but
on the other hand I could use it as a sign of iconography symbolising the irregularity of the
film.
Blending option – I used the bevel in blending options to add a mysterious and dark tone it so
that it would stand out his way I could appeal to my target audience and also ensure that what
I had made stood out from other products, I used this tool on the pentagon first and then I
used it on the font so that they both matched up in context and texture and I think that overall
it stands out well and adds the dark tone that I needed for my audience appeal and I feel like I
am overall happy with the way that it turned out.
Magic wand tool – when I first copied out the font I needed to remove the background that
had come with it before I could make any changes to it and I used the magic wand tool to do
this and it made the background transparent allowing the font to stand out with the red
background.
Process
Tools used and processes
Templates on google - to find the blue ray template I had to search for it on google
and nearly all of the high quality films that are released today are blue ray and I feel
this process is very good because it gives me a basis to go off when I am creating my
DVD cover and really helps me decide what I am going to put there and then it also
looks nice and stands out which is great because it makes it look more neat and more
professional, it comes with a Blu-ray Disk at the top as well as the logo because this
makes it looks proper and efficient as a blue ray disk cover and I think that this
boarder contributes a lot. I wouldn’t change the design of the template from blue ray
Cover to DVD cover because I think that blue ray looks the nicest and stand out more
as a box on a shelf.
The background image – for the background image I got a picture of a tree alone
which can be used as iconography to symbolise the character and I did this for
audience appeal, I made it black and white using the gradient tool to alter the way
that it looked and shaped out, the reason that I did this was so that it would stand out
as a dark toned horror film it would make contrast with the blue ray box cover which
makes it stand out well. I feel like it was a good choice to choose this image and I
think that I am happy with its overall look on the cover.
Company logos and magic wand tool – I imported all three of my company logos and
used the mic wand tool to cut out the background that they had and that I did not
need in my DVD cover, I feel like it was a very important process to cut out the
background and I think that the magic wand tool is great as it saves a lot of time that
would usually be spent rubbing parts out and also makes sure that the cut of colour is
precise and it doesn’t take any parts off that you need in it. After I used the magic
wand tool I used the enlargement tool to make each of company logos the same size
and small so that they could just sit at the back of the box neatly and nicely and I feel
like this was a really good ide because it makes it look really professional. To move
the company logos along I used the drag tool.
Shapes tool and text tool – on the back cover of my work I created a rectangle using
the shape tool and this was then turned red and the reason that I turned it red is for
the audience appeal to symbolise violence using iconography on the colour red and I
feel like this was important for me to do because it really needed that little bit extra
on it colour wise to help it stand out more. I then used the text tool write out a
synopsis on the film and how it will turn out advertising the film and representing
how it would look. I think that the style of having a synopsis on the back is good in the
synopsis you can foreshadow the film or just explain it in a way that makes someone
want to watch it. It is very common on DVD covers for there to be a synopsis on the
back of this style as seen in my research on the shining DVD cover.
Shape and text tool 2 – I used the shape tool for another rectangle which I made blue
to match the colour of the blue ray and lined it up down the middle of the box
creating the centre part of it between the back of the box and the front of the box
and I added the text tool of The Hike so show the name and what it is called so that if
the film was to hypothetically be on a shelf the title of the film would be seen and I
coloured the text white so that it stood out on the blue and was clearly visible.
Text tool at the top on the front page – the reason that I have written 5 names above title is because usually on the
modern day films that have the DVD covers above the title on the front page they have this at the top and I think that
it works very well and nicely and stands out as it adds a bit more to the front of the page which helps it stand out and
look good. I copied the style that is used in films for the names because I felt that it would be a good idea to follow
what they have all done and I feel that this was a food call as I like the turn out it has and how it looks. I wrote these
names using the text tool individually creating 5 different layers and then I used the drag tool to move them into
position in line with each other and inline with the title and also making sure that they are each the same distance way
from one another so that it looks neat.
Outer glow and text tool for the title – for the title of the film I felt that it only needed a outer glow on it because it
was simple DVD cover and to do something fancy would be unnecessary because it would ruin the simple art style so I
made it have a black outer glow and another reason for this was so that it did not look the same as everything else on
the page as it’s the title it needs to stand out and I think that I did a good job of that but also because it needs to be
easier to read.
Text tool - I used the text tool to write out a slogan at the bottom of the front cover to advertise the film which I
found to be what nearly all front film covers for big film send up doing.
Process
In this image I have created a company logo to go in my trailer I still need to add graphics to it and
make it a clear stand out in the trailer and noticeable. To start with I had help drawing the design
of the logo on a piece of paper and coming up with concepts and ideas to how it should look and
in the end I came up with the ide of this, after I came up with the idea to put it in Photoshop and
colour it and add different colors to it. I used the pencil tool to add grey to the words I made
abysmal l dark grey with a black outline and then I added in black to productions as its not as thick
and bold as abysmal is written it didn't’t give me much option for dark colors that stand out. After
I added a blue sky to the background and made the man in the middle of the a black with a torch
to stand out as if he is in darkness and needs to shine a light to shine his way through the
darkness. I made the boarder black with light that’s meant to show the torch shining through
making the logo bright and visible. I think that this company logo does need improvements that
hopefully later I will be able to improve this work. Within time. I feel that the logo set up that I
have made works and I m happy with the outcome that I have made in the time that I had to make
it.
The Tools
Paper – this company logo was originally hand draw with different scenery around it I did this on a
A4 piece of paper. It was hand drawn around a font that was used as inspiration and was called
abysmal productions for the productions it kept to a pixilated connect the square tools to shape it
out and in the middle of the a I thought it would be nice touch to have a man wit a torch trying to
shine through the darkness and grass was added into the logo. I think that this was a nice touch and
I like the style to it ad feel like it fits nicely in the trailer and matches it well and suits it, I like the
touch of the grass and think it fits in nicely and is iconography and symbolizes that the company
name is sat on a foundation.
Outer glow – the reason that I have done the outer glow is so that it stands out as white going
through on the shape coving the daylight, the idea behind this is so that it will stand out as if the
man shining the torch makes it look although he is shining abysmal productions through the
darkness and making it visible for all to see. It took a while to do this and I had to make sure that the
outer glow was the right size.
Shape tool – I used the shape tool so that I would be able to create a transparent oval shape so that
it was clear to see through the darkness to see the abysmal production, this stands out well and as I
dragged it into position I added the outer glow affect so that it stood out with the flashlight. It made
it much clearer and much more visible and I think that it stands out in the overall image.
Gradient tool - I used the gradient too so that I could smooth out the blending options on the title
and make it stand out more, it adds a better look and style to the work and when it appears in the
trailer it really makes a difference that stands out.
Magic wand tool – for the magic wand tool before I had the sky background and I scanned in the
work I had to cut out the background which was plain white so I used the magic wand tool to cut it
out and then add in the background after, I also had to use the magic want tool so that I could cut
the white spaces between the letters after I scanned it in.
Pencil tool – the reason that I used the pencil tool is because I felt like it would be a good idea to
add color to the title so I filled it in brown so that I could appeal to my audience in a dark tone and I
think that I did do this and I think that it fit in well. I felt like adding brown as the color for abysmal
and grey for the production. I think that this was a very good idea that works well with the total
outcome of how it looks.
Inner glow – the reason that I used the inner glow was so that it would have the same affect as the
outer glow on the light but also to add more visuals to it. I wanted it to look like the light shine was
strongest coming from inner layer of the image so it added a more realistic affect. I feel like this was
a good idea and stood out after I had added it really making a difference to my product and I think
that if I had of left the work without it on then it wouldn’t of looked the same and that not in a good
way. If I where able to improve on this I would add more depth onto the light making it go all the
way to the torch but so that it gets lighter as it goes along.
Drag tool – after I had found the background image of the sky that fit the company logo in a good
style and made it stand out I needed to place it in the right position to ensure that the main title
was clearly visible and stood out.
Overall I think that this company logo looks good and fits in with the trailer and also the poster and
DVD cover work and I overall feel happy as to how it has turned out in the end.
Process
This is the poster that I have made for my production it needs improvements and
tweaks but I think that the company logos and the black ad white works with it because
it looks like a dark horror film trailer and this is good because it stands out.
Tools and processes used
text tool – I used the text tool to make the title and I enlarged it to make it bigger and then added a
after glow affect as well blending option and gravel to make it stand out more on the poster and make
it look nicer I think that using these tools on the title have added a really nice affect to I and now it
stands out more and is much more eye catching to an audience, the reason that I made the title a dark
grey that’s bland is to that it would match to the background and I think that it does this well and
really stands out from the background cover but also matches it in a different way and I like this idea
as I think it matches to a lot of the poster that I looked at for my research more specifically horror ones
which is why I feel like adding these affects to the title works to a very goo advantage and stands out.
Background – I chose to make the background black and white so that I could give it a dark texture and
make it dark toned which the main purpose of this idea is so that I will be able to appeal to my target
as they wanted it to be a dark toned theme and they wanted it to stand out and I believe that I have
delivered this as the background is visible as small road on a hike which is a picture that I had taken on
the day that I filmed of the area that the main footage is done I think that this image really shows the
long road and how the end of it is not visible or in sight and I really want that to be iconography for the
film and I think that the overall look of the black and white captures the perfect type of film its going
to be and resembles that there is not going to be much light in it and its going to be a very grey and
dark toned film. I feel like it was a good idea to make the background black and white and I feel happy
with the overall outcome and I think that I would keep it the same even if I had chance to go back on it
and make improvements.
Coming soon font – it took me while to find a coming soon font style and art style that really fit the
poster in the way that I would of liked but I was eventually able to find one on google and then when I
added it to photoshop I made my own unique version of it. I added a shining light in the middle which
shows that its symbolism for in the middle of the film there may be some light but the rest would be
dark I made It like this by using a shape tool making it transparent and see through and then adding on
some bravel to make it look more spooky and mysterious I then also added a outer glow affect to it to
make its inside colour stand out on the poster and be clear and visible to see and I feel like this was a
good idea because the outer glow tool is the most affective tool to use to make the writing stand out
on the age when the text colour is very similar to the background that it sits on.
Magic wand tool – when I copied in the coming soon it was surrounded by a white background even
though it was supposed to be transparent to I used the magic wand tool to cut out the background and
all the white parts of it that also ruined the poster and I think that this was a good idea because if I
decided to rub off the background using the eraser tool I might of taken parts of what indeed off so
using the magic wand tool is a big plus because it means that I didn’t have any errors and it all looked
as it was supposed to. On thing I missed is the black outer glow spots above the coming soon this is
because of an error with the program whenever I save it as a png file it adds this on for some reason
when on photoshop its not there.
Company logos - for the company logos I also made them black white so that it would match to the
poster and look creepy and mysterious and I think that it works after I pulled the in to put them on the
poster I had to adjust the size of them to fit at the bottom and make sure are the same size and same
width apart from one another, I also had to use the magic wand tool to cut out the background from
the company logos.
Process
Tools and processes used
Magic wand – the first tool that I used was the magic wand tool because after I had found a good bubble styled
writing font for the illusions I had to copy it into photoshop which left a white background and so I had to change
it with the magic wand tool and take way the white background and I think that this was a good idea because the
white background really didn’t suit it at all and it overall just looked like it didn’t fit and I feel like using the magic
wand tool Is the best option because it fully removes the background on the layer.
Pain bucket tool – the reason that I used the paint bucket tool was for two reasons the first was for the main
background, I decided to make it fully black to really give off the impression of dark tone which I needed to
appeal to my audience and I feel like I have done this well and now it suits the film trailer and the film that they
would be advertising in the same tone and I think this was a very good idea to make sure that everything matches
to it and looks professional and not rushed. The second reason that I had used the paint bucket tool was because
I wanted to colour in the illusions font with red and the reason for this is because is because I had planned to add
red in at somewhere to be iconography for the violence in the film that it goes with and I thought that a logo that
was all black with the writing red would symbolise this perfectly ad would also appeal to the audience. The
bucket tool was very helpful for both of these because it fully colours every part of what I wanted coloured rather
than using a paint brush or pencil tool where it takes far longer and can sometime be in accurate which makes it
look unprofessional. I think that I have done a good job of presenting how the symbolism and style looks for this
while using the paint bucket tool and feel that it’s a very helpful icon.
Shapes tool – I used a rectangle that I turned fully grey with the paint bucket tool on the rectangle that I got from
the shapes tool and then enlarged it and moved it over the title, I then added on some inner and outer glow and
made it look gritty on both I then removed the inside of the triangle turning it into a boarder for the main
company logo. I think that this came together really well and worked to make it look professional and it fit the
idea of making it look professional. I then created another rectangle and copied the same affects but rather then
turning the rectangle grey like the original I turned it black so that the outer glow covered up part of the words
making it have a creepy and mysterious affect that I think works nicely with the logo and I feel like it fits together
with the outline well and I am happy about the way t5ht I turned out.
Drag tool – I used the drag tool to move round the different layers and select them putting them into the right
positions that fit the screen and look impressive.
Shapes tool – like the first two time I used the shape tool I made a rectangle to use as a underline that was
chunky and I could colour in and I copied the grey affect from the first rectangle and used that to put as an
underline for illusions and I think that it fits nicely and the illusions sign just sits on top of it. I feel that this was I
nice affect and it worked well in the end and the grey matches perfectly with the boarder but they are not
connected which I also think is a nice affect.
Font – I found another font that looked really serious and formal that I decided to write incorporated with, after
seeing that illusions on its own was boring and needed something else I came up with using incorporated and I
added the font with the illusions but this theme put it under the underline and copied the same tools and affects
that I had used on the illusions and put them on incorporated, I then made the colour a darker red so it didn’t
have the same comic affect but looked more serious which can be iconography for the films mix and match of
seriousness and also play fun. I think that this concept works and I feel like the overall look of this company logo
is one that I am happy with and would definitely use in my trailer poster and DVD cover.
Process
The tools used and the graphics put in on the company logos
Lightning at the start – for the eclipse logo I added a lightning affect going around it
because I felt like it needed more than just the outer glow I had put on and that was
the lightning. I think that the lightning fit well and the way that I did it was that I
added the graphics affect to it which gave me one strand of lightning in the middle of
the page I went on to animate the lightning by changing the position of it on screen in
degree and making it multiply and get greater width as each other, this affect was fun
to animate and play around with and it created a great end design that matched with
the music that I had created for it. I think that with more time I would of changed the
animation of it to do a bit different movement like on the abysmal production slide
but it doesn’t matter because I feel like I did a good job of it.
Outer glow at the start – the outer glow affect was a favourite because when I was
playing around with affects and I found this one and had a go at animating it I felt like
it looked amazing and really suited the product. I made the glow on it large so that it
stretched out to really make the shine visible which is the main affect I wanted to see,
it also affected the lightning affect that I had added because it made that glow and
light up more than it did before which I felt to be a really nice impact on the end
result for it as it really stood out to me.
Enlarging affect – the eclipse logo to finish off I felt needed something else and
something different and chose this to be a enlarging affect because I really felt that
when that’s done on high budget films it really stands out and looks professional, to
enlarge it I added a sequence where from the start it would start at one size and then
it would slowly change to another at the end and I changed the staring point to a low
percentage and then at the end I changed it to a large percentage and then it
animated into it enlarging and looked like it fit. I felt like it was an improvement to
have it featured like this and premier makes this easy to make these affects because
of the set up structure that they have. When I placed the eclipse final animation into
the start of the timescale I cut it short so that it didn’t last long In total.
Enlargement for the second company logo – the second company logo I added in was
illusions incorporated and for the logo I had created I didn’t feel like it needed
anything fancy but all that It needed was just a little professional enlargement to
show the company coming up to the screen and I felt like the end product of this
showed that. I added the zoom in affect to it and did the same process that I had
done on the eclipse logo at the start just made it smaller to start with and bigger to
end with by changing the starting size to the end size and this created this nice affect
that can be seen in the second company logo and is exactly what I was thinking of
doing with it when I opened. This is how I edited the sequence of the second
company logo and I feel happy with the end result that I got from the second
company logo. I think that the black transition slide in the middle of the two company
logos gives time for people to think about the first one and then watch the next one
and I like the idea of having this and I think that I am going to keep it in at every gap
because it adds a more suspenful affect.
Third company logo – lightning affect – the lightning affect that I added for the 3rd company I wanted to sped time on
make sure that it started at the right place and hit the right place and I did this by adding the lightning affect and then
changing the degree of starting point to animate a starting point and I moved it to directly above where the man with
the flash light is stood on the company logo and then the end point to the head of the man and where he is stood so it
created this nice animation of the lightning striking the man which if the man is to be symbolised as the main character
this animation can be used to symbolise his bad look when he is trying to save himself by shining a light through the
darkness only to get hit by lightning and the visuals to the effect I enjoyed watching and putting together and premier do
a great job of proving easy ways to figure out how to use the different lightning affects and put them together into the
trailer. When I was finished with this I placed it in the timescale and then adjusted the size of the image to make it
smaller and less blurry because I didn’t want to enlargement affect for this company logo. I cut down the amount of time
it was on for and followed it with another blank transition slides so that the viewer will be able to think about it before
they continue to watch and I think that this style of lightning that’s more settle and smooth is better than the first
company logo because it adds more to it and is better to view in my opinion. When I was watching trailers for research
ones such as the pirates of the Caribbean Disney logo had the same type of affect on it and it looked great and I decided
to take some of that inspiration and try and duplicate a similar outcome for my trailer as I saw and I did my best to
provide that and had fun doing it.
Process
Effects and graphics in the footage, music and the final title
Footage colour – to start with, I had a lot of footage and it wasn’t necessarily
footage that I wanted and in parts of the footage it was to see if I could do
something more useful with it at the time and I think that the footage I used was
good, I used a cut tool to trim the footage down to only parts that fit the type of
trailer that I was making and also fit the idea and concept of hike unfortunately as
I did not get to film in the place that I had originally wanted to I had to change it to
a new location and as the people had cast in it did not turn up I had to do scenery
shots instead of the area and come up with a plan of how I was going to film ti and
put it together and my idea was to film everything and then cut the footage and
see what I could do with it. So I started off by using the cut tool to get rid of bits of
footage that I didn’t want in my trailer and the bits that I got still didn’t fit that
well and is no where near what I had wanted or intended but I could still out and
fit into the trailer which is all that really mattered. I lined up the different parts of
footage that I had and used the bins area to store each cut clip in a new folder I
had called footage I'm using, I put them next to each other and then spaced them
out by 2 seconds which then created this black transition between each part of
the clips which I wanted to keep ad use because I felt that it worked well with it
but I needed my trailer to be dark toned and I couldn’t include the violence that I
had originally wanted to have in it so having it dark toned was important which is
why I added a new colour correction to it where I changed the visual images they
stayed light because when I turned them dark they was hard to see but I added
this blurry mysterious affect on that I could use and I duplicated it to all of the
clips that I had created this was good because it gave each of the clips that I had
edited my own unique look to it. I think that the footage parts of the trailer could
use some big improvements and I feel like I would go back and improve on it fully
if I had the chance to.
Dialogue – I had a narrators voice giving context to the trailer that I had recorded
and added into I changed the sound affects and turned up the EQ and distortion
giving it a vivid dark toned feel, I think that this worked well with the trailer and
brought more to it, I wrote a script for the dialogue and got the person to read it
while I recorded to start with, unfortunate when I tried to save this the file
corrupted on the apple macs then it wouldn’t re open and when I made it again
and re added the affects to the audio using the tools it then corrupted again so I
had to take it out and use the music on its own leaving out a lot of the needed
context. I think that if this dialogue was in the trailer it would made a huge
difference to the outcome of the final product.
Transitions slides – I had originally made transition slides with “coming soon” on it
just before the end title and this also got corrupted as file and I was unable to add
it in to my final product like originally intended it’s a small detail but it would have
made a difference to me and I'm disappointed that it happened.
Title – the last title is what I created on photoshop it’s The hike in writing with the outer glow and inner glow affect on it
and I think that when it comes together it works really well with the image of the moon in the background. Originally this
was an eclipse and I put it in the company logo of eclipse but I decided it didn’t fit and was more of a last ending scene to
have it so I changed it and had a moon instead with clouds going across it and then the title in the centre and I felt that
this worked well. To put the moon on I found a free gif of the moon downloaded it and added it to the end I then made
the title transparent in background and then added it to the trailer at the end in front of the moon and the final effect
that it had I felt worked well and I think that I could improve it I would have found abetter version of the moon where the
clouds go fully across because I think that that would have probably been better, or I would have filmed the moon
outside with the clouds going over and then added it to it myself.
Music – the music used in this trailer was created on garage band and is a rendition of a song I knows backing track just
tweaked the best I could and altered because I think that the song fit trailer that I was trying to create perfectly and I
didn’t want it with the words and if I had of copied it in it would have been copy right so I created my own version with
inspiration from the original. To create the track I used a keyboard attached to a laptop I used bass, drums and a piano in
instruments and recorded each part of the track individually and then fit them together and I think it works well although
the drums come into it to early and I would change that to put them further on, or I would just remove them completely
because I don’t think they are that necessary.

Process Gradient tool –the reason that I used the gradient tool was to add a little bit more to the texture of the background so that it wasn’t just plain red but it ended up changing the background to something that I felt that I did not like so I ended up removing it completely from it. I do not feel like I have worked at all and was not necessary to the overall outcome of my logo. Eraser – the reason that I used the rubber tool was because I had originally written production under eclipse in a drawn font with the pencil tool and I had to remove it as it didn’t suit the name and it just looked better with eclipse anyway I think and I feel like it was just there for the sake of it. Pencil tool – I used the pencil tool to add productions under eclipse but I felt that this did not work and I would probably add it to a different logo that I make if possible because I felt it did not fit with this. In this screen shot I have just made the company logo that I am going to include in the movie trailer at the beginning of it. To use it I searched google for inspiration on finding text that I can use and different shape designs. When making this I added in a free text peace that I found on Google a template that I would be able to use. I used the pentagon shape to make a spiritual eye this is because it is a horror and this way it makes it seem as though it is a horror film and a thriller and this way it stands out well with and works well. The main idea of this is because that in the beginning of the trailer like most trailers it has a company logo that stands out. I think that this is an important and key part of my work as it shows my understanding on trailers and the process being putting different parts of my work together. Tools used Paint bucket tool – I used the paint bucket tool to start with and the reason for this was so that when I added the logos writing onto it, it would stand out, originally it wasn’t a red background I made it orange and transparent but after I added in the eclipse logo, it was barley visible to see so I made it red and since it’s a dark company I felt like I could use the red as iconography to symbolise the violence in the films that they would put into production or just for this film and I think that this was a nice little idea that to me stood out. Shape tool one – I used the shape tool the fist time so that I could create a rectangle as an under liner for the company title and changed the colour of it to dark grey to make sure that it had the dark tone to appeal to my audience and I think that the colour that I chose does this. The rectangle was changed later on so that it would line up and fir the title in terms of size, I think that it fit the overall outcome nicely and I feel like this process was important to the way that my end product shaped out at the end of it. Fonts – I used the website http://www.1001fonts.com/ to find fonts that I would be able and that fit the overall outcome of my product in a way that stood out. I had to scroll down lots of different fonts in order to find a font that I could use such as the one that I have and to find a font that fit in. the overall font that I chose had a unique look to it and style with parts of the letters missing and that is why I chose it however I wanted to add my own unique look to it so I added in a pentagon at the top of the eye and then changed the way that it looked. I think that this font fits the main idea of the company logo really well and I am very pleased with the way that it turned out and the font style had a lot of contributions to that. I feel like I wouldn’t find another font to use because I am happy with the one that I chose and the overall outcome of how it turned out on the page. Shape tool 2 – for the second shape tool I chose a pentagon to cover the I and added bevel so that it would stand out I had to make the pentagon the right size so that it would fit perfectly above the eye and look like it was part of the font this is adding my own unique style to the font and making it my own. I think that the pentagon fits well and stands out and I feel that If I was to improve on it then I would add a shorter length to it because I think that the pentagon should be eve on all sides but I have made it to tall trying to shrink it so I would change it but on the other hand I could use it as a sign of iconography symbolising the irregularity of the film. Blending option – I used the bevel in blending options to add a mysterious and dark tone it so that it would stand out his way I could appeal to my target audience and also ensure that what I had made stood out from other products, I used this tool on the pentagon first and then I used it on the font so that they both matched up in context and texture and I think that overall it stands out well and adds the dark tone that I needed for my audience appeal and I feel like I am overall happy with the way that it turned out. Magic wand tool – when I first copied out the font I needed to remove the background that had come with it before I could make any changes to it and I used the magic wand tool to do this and it made the background transparent allowing the font to stand out with the red background.

Process Tools used andprocesses Templates on google - to find the blue ray template I had to search for it on google and nearly all of the high quality films that are released today are blue ray and I feel this process is very good because it gives me a basis to go off when I am creating my DVD cover and really helps me decide what I am going to put there and then it also looks nice and stands out which is great because it makes it look more neat and more professional, it comes with a Blu-ray Disk at the top as well as the logo because this makes it looks proper and efficient as a blue ray disk cover and I think that this boarder contributes a lot. I wouldn’t change the design of the template from blue ray Cover to DVD cover because I think that blue ray looks the nicest and stand out more as a box on a shelf. The background image – for the background image I got a picture of a tree alone which can be used as iconography to symbolise the character and I did this for audience appeal, I made it black and white using the gradient tool to alter the way that it looked and shaped out, the reason that I did this was so that it would stand out as a dark toned horror film it would make contrast with the blue ray box cover which makes it stand out well. I feel like it was a good choice to choose this image and I think that I am happy with its overall look on the cover. Company logos and magic wand tool – I imported all three of my company logos and used the mic wand tool to cut out the background that they had and that I did not need in my DVD cover, I feel like it was a very important process to cut out the background and I think that the magic wand tool is great as it saves a lot of time that would usually be spent rubbing parts out and also makes sure that the cut of colour is precise and it doesn’t take any parts off that you need in it. After I used the magic wand tool I used the enlargement tool to make each of company logos the same size and small so that they could just sit at the back of the box neatly and nicely and I feel like this was a really good ide because it makes it look really professional. To move the company logos along I used the drag tool. Shapes tool and text tool – on the back cover of my work I created a rectangle using the shape tool and this was then turned red and the reason that I turned it red is for the audience appeal to symbolise violence using iconography on the colour red and I feel like this was important for me to do because it really needed that little bit extra on it colour wise to help it stand out more. I then used the text tool write out a synopsis on the film and how it will turn out advertising the film and representing how it would look. I think that the style of having a synopsis on the back is good in the synopsis you can foreshadow the film or just explain it in a way that makes someone want to watch it. It is very common on DVD covers for there to be a synopsis on the back of this style as seen in my research on the shining DVD cover. Shape and text tool 2 – I used the shape tool for another rectangle which I made blue to match the colour of the blue ray and lined it up down the middle of the box creating the centre part of it between the back of the box and the front of the box and I added the text tool of The Hike so show the name and what it is called so that if the film was to hypothetically be on a shelf the title of the film would be seen and I coloured the text white so that it stood out on the blue and was clearly visible. Text tool at the top on the front page – the reason that I have written 5 names above title is because usually on the modern day films that have the DVD covers above the title on the front page they have this at the top and I think that it works very well and nicely and stands out as it adds a bit more to the front of the page which helps it stand out and look good. I copied the style that is used in films for the names because I felt that it would be a good idea to follow what they have all done and I feel that this was a food call as I like the turn out it has and how it looks. I wrote these names using the text tool individually creating 5 different layers and then I used the drag tool to move them into position in line with each other and inline with the title and also making sure that they are each the same distance way from one another so that it looks neat. Outer glow and text tool for the title – for the title of the film I felt that it only needed a outer glow on it because it was simple DVD cover and to do something fancy would be unnecessary because it would ruin the simple art style so I made it have a black outer glow and another reason for this was so that it did not look the same as everything else on the page as it’s the title it needs to stand out and I think that I did a good job of that but also because it needs to be easier to read. Text tool - I used the text tool to write out a slogan at the bottom of the front cover to advertise the film which I found to be what nearly all front film covers for big film send up doing.

Process In this imageI have created a company logo to go in my trailer I still need to add graphics to it and make it a clear stand out in the trailer and noticeable. To start with I had help drawing the design of the logo on a piece of paper and coming up with concepts and ideas to how it should look and in the end I came up with the ide of this, after I came up with the idea to put it in Photoshop and colour it and add different colors to it. I used the pencil tool to add grey to the words I made abysmal l dark grey with a black outline and then I added in black to productions as its not as thick and bold as abysmal is written it didn't’t give me much option for dark colors that stand out. After I added a blue sky to the background and made the man in the middle of the a black with a torch to stand out as if he is in darkness and needs to shine a light to shine his way through the darkness. I made the boarder black with light that’s meant to show the torch shining through making the logo bright and visible. I think that this company logo does need improvements that hopefully later I will be able to improve this work. Within time. I feel that the logo set up that I have made works and I m happy with the outcome that I have made in the time that I had to make it. The Tools Paper – this company logo was originally hand draw with different scenery around it I did this on a A4 piece of paper. It was hand drawn around a font that was used as inspiration and was called abysmal productions for the productions it kept to a pixilated connect the square tools to shape it out and in the middle of the a I thought it would be nice touch to have a man wit a torch trying to shine through the darkness and grass was added into the logo. I think that this was a nice touch and I like the style to it ad feel like it fits nicely in the trailer and matches it well and suits it, I like the touch of the grass and think it fits in nicely and is iconography and symbolizes that the company name is sat on a foundation. Outer glow – the reason that I have done the outer glow is so that it stands out as white going through on the shape coving the daylight, the idea behind this is so that it will stand out as if the man shining the torch makes it look although he is shining abysmal productions through the darkness and making it visible for all to see. It took a while to do this and I had to make sure that the outer glow was the right size. Shape tool – I used the shape tool so that I would be able to create a transparent oval shape so that it was clear to see through the darkness to see the abysmal production, this stands out well and as I dragged it into position I added the outer glow affect so that it stood out with the flashlight. It made it much clearer and much more visible and I think that it stands out in the overall image. Gradient tool - I used the gradient too so that I could smooth out the blending options on the title and make it stand out more, it adds a better look and style to the work and when it appears in the trailer it really makes a difference that stands out. Magic wand tool – for the magic wand tool before I had the sky background and I scanned in the work I had to cut out the background which was plain white so I used the magic wand tool to cut it out and then add in the background after, I also had to use the magic want tool so that I could cut the white spaces between the letters after I scanned it in. Pencil tool – the reason that I used the pencil tool is because I felt like it would be a good idea to add color to the title so I filled it in brown so that I could appeal to my audience in a dark tone and I think that I did do this and I think that it fit in well. I felt like adding brown as the color for abysmal and grey for the production. I think that this was a very good idea that works well with the total outcome of how it looks. Inner glow – the reason that I used the inner glow was so that it would have the same affect as the outer glow on the light but also to add more visuals to it. I wanted it to look like the light shine was strongest coming from inner layer of the image so it added a more realistic affect. I feel like this was a good idea and stood out after I had added it really making a difference to my product and I think that if I had of left the work without it on then it wouldn’t of looked the same and that not in a good way. If I where able to improve on this I would add more depth onto the light making it go all the way to the torch but so that it gets lighter as it goes along. Drag tool – after I had found the background image of the sky that fit the company logo in a good style and made it stand out I needed to place it in the right position to ensure that the main title was clearly visible and stood out. Overall I think that this company logo looks good and fits in with the trailer and also the poster and DVD cover work and I overall feel happy as to how it has turned out in the end.

Process This is theposter that I have made for my production it needs improvements and tweaks but I think that the company logos and the black ad white works with it because it looks like a dark horror film trailer and this is good because it stands out. Tools and processes used text tool – I used the text tool to make the title and I enlarged it to make it bigger and then added a after glow affect as well blending option and gravel to make it stand out more on the poster and make it look nicer I think that using these tools on the title have added a really nice affect to I and now it stands out more and is much more eye catching to an audience, the reason that I made the title a dark grey that’s bland is to that it would match to the background and I think that it does this well and really stands out from the background cover but also matches it in a different way and I like this idea as I think it matches to a lot of the poster that I looked at for my research more specifically horror ones which is why I feel like adding these affects to the title works to a very goo advantage and stands out. Background – I chose to make the background black and white so that I could give it a dark texture and make it dark toned which the main purpose of this idea is so that I will be able to appeal to my target as they wanted it to be a dark toned theme and they wanted it to stand out and I believe that I have delivered this as the background is visible as small road on a hike which is a picture that I had taken on the day that I filmed of the area that the main footage is done I think that this image really shows the long road and how the end of it is not visible or in sight and I really want that to be iconography for the film and I think that the overall look of the black and white captures the perfect type of film its going to be and resembles that there is not going to be much light in it and its going to be a very grey and dark toned film. I feel like it was a good idea to make the background black and white and I feel happy with the overall outcome and I think that I would keep it the same even if I had chance to go back on it and make improvements. Coming soon font – it took me while to find a coming soon font style and art style that really fit the poster in the way that I would of liked but I was eventually able to find one on google and then when I added it to photoshop I made my own unique version of it. I added a shining light in the middle which shows that its symbolism for in the middle of the film there may be some light but the rest would be dark I made It like this by using a shape tool making it transparent and see through and then adding on some bravel to make it look more spooky and mysterious I then also added a outer glow affect to it to make its inside colour stand out on the poster and be clear and visible to see and I feel like this was a good idea because the outer glow tool is the most affective tool to use to make the writing stand out on the age when the text colour is very similar to the background that it sits on. Magic wand tool – when I copied in the coming soon it was surrounded by a white background even though it was supposed to be transparent to I used the magic wand tool to cut out the background and all the white parts of it that also ruined the poster and I think that this was a good idea because if I decided to rub off the background using the eraser tool I might of taken parts of what indeed off so using the magic wand tool is a big plus because it means that I didn’t have any errors and it all looked as it was supposed to. On thing I missed is the black outer glow spots above the coming soon this is because of an error with the program whenever I save it as a png file it adds this on for some reason when on photoshop its not there. Company logos - for the company logos I also made them black white so that it would match to the poster and look creepy and mysterious and I think that it works after I pulled the in to put them on the poster I had to adjust the size of them to fit at the bottom and make sure are the same size and same width apart from one another, I also had to use the magic wand tool to cut out the background from the company logos.

Process Tools and processesused Magic wand – the first tool that I used was the magic wand tool because after I had found a good bubble styled writing font for the illusions I had to copy it into photoshop which left a white background and so I had to change it with the magic wand tool and take way the white background and I think that this was a good idea because the white background really didn’t suit it at all and it overall just looked like it didn’t fit and I feel like using the magic wand tool Is the best option because it fully removes the background on the layer. Pain bucket tool – the reason that I used the paint bucket tool was for two reasons the first was for the main background, I decided to make it fully black to really give off the impression of dark tone which I needed to appeal to my audience and I feel like I have done this well and now it suits the film trailer and the film that they would be advertising in the same tone and I think this was a very good idea to make sure that everything matches to it and looks professional and not rushed. The second reason that I had used the paint bucket tool was because I wanted to colour in the illusions font with red and the reason for this is because is because I had planned to add red in at somewhere to be iconography for the violence in the film that it goes with and I thought that a logo that was all black with the writing red would symbolise this perfectly ad would also appeal to the audience. The bucket tool was very helpful for both of these because it fully colours every part of what I wanted coloured rather than using a paint brush or pencil tool where it takes far longer and can sometime be in accurate which makes it look unprofessional. I think that I have done a good job of presenting how the symbolism and style looks for this while using the paint bucket tool and feel that it’s a very helpful icon. Shapes tool – I used a rectangle that I turned fully grey with the paint bucket tool on the rectangle that I got from the shapes tool and then enlarged it and moved it over the title, I then added on some inner and outer glow and made it look gritty on both I then removed the inside of the triangle turning it into a boarder for the main company logo. I think that this came together really well and worked to make it look professional and it fit the idea of making it look professional. I then created another rectangle and copied the same affects but rather then turning the rectangle grey like the original I turned it black so that the outer glow covered up part of the words making it have a creepy and mysterious affect that I think works nicely with the logo and I feel like it fits together with the outline well and I am happy about the way t5ht I turned out. Drag tool – I used the drag tool to move round the different layers and select them putting them into the right positions that fit the screen and look impressive. Shapes tool – like the first two time I used the shape tool I made a rectangle to use as a underline that was chunky and I could colour in and I copied the grey affect from the first rectangle and used that to put as an underline for illusions and I think that it fits nicely and the illusions sign just sits on top of it. I feel that this was I nice affect and it worked well in the end and the grey matches perfectly with the boarder but they are not connected which I also think is a nice affect. Font – I found another font that looked really serious and formal that I decided to write incorporated with, after seeing that illusions on its own was boring and needed something else I came up with using incorporated and I added the font with the illusions but this theme put it under the underline and copied the same tools and affects that I had used on the illusions and put them on incorporated, I then made the colour a darker red so it didn’t have the same comic affect but looked more serious which can be iconography for the films mix and match of seriousness and also play fun. I think that this concept works and I feel like the overall look of this company logo is one that I am happy with and would definitely use in my trailer poster and DVD cover.

Process The tools usedand the graphics put in on the company logos Lightning at the start – for the eclipse logo I added a lightning affect going around it because I felt like it needed more than just the outer glow I had put on and that was the lightning. I think that the lightning fit well and the way that I did it was that I added the graphics affect to it which gave me one strand of lightning in the middle of the page I went on to animate the lightning by changing the position of it on screen in degree and making it multiply and get greater width as each other, this affect was fun to animate and play around with and it created a great end design that matched with the music that I had created for it. I think that with more time I would of changed the animation of it to do a bit different movement like on the abysmal production slide but it doesn’t matter because I feel like I did a good job of it. Outer glow at the start – the outer glow affect was a favourite because when I was playing around with affects and I found this one and had a go at animating it I felt like it looked amazing and really suited the product. I made the glow on it large so that it stretched out to really make the shine visible which is the main affect I wanted to see, it also affected the lightning affect that I had added because it made that glow and light up more than it did before which I felt to be a really nice impact on the end result for it as it really stood out to me. Enlarging affect – the eclipse logo to finish off I felt needed something else and something different and chose this to be a enlarging affect because I really felt that when that’s done on high budget films it really stands out and looks professional, to enlarge it I added a sequence where from the start it would start at one size and then it would slowly change to another at the end and I changed the staring point to a low percentage and then at the end I changed it to a large percentage and then it animated into it enlarging and looked like it fit. I felt like it was an improvement to have it featured like this and premier makes this easy to make these affects because of the set up structure that they have. When I placed the eclipse final animation into the start of the timescale I cut it short so that it didn’t last long In total. Enlargement for the second company logo – the second company logo I added in was illusions incorporated and for the logo I had created I didn’t feel like it needed anything fancy but all that It needed was just a little professional enlargement to show the company coming up to the screen and I felt like the end product of this showed that. I added the zoom in affect to it and did the same process that I had done on the eclipse logo at the start just made it smaller to start with and bigger to end with by changing the starting size to the end size and this created this nice affect that can be seen in the second company logo and is exactly what I was thinking of doing with it when I opened. This is how I edited the sequence of the second company logo and I feel happy with the end result that I got from the second company logo. I think that the black transition slide in the middle of the two company logos gives time for people to think about the first one and then watch the next one and I like the idea of having this and I think that I am going to keep it in at every gap because it adds a more suspenful affect. Third company logo – lightning affect – the lightning affect that I added for the 3rd company I wanted to sped time on make sure that it started at the right place and hit the right place and I did this by adding the lightning affect and then changing the degree of starting point to animate a starting point and I moved it to directly above where the man with the flash light is stood on the company logo and then the end point to the head of the man and where he is stood so it created this nice animation of the lightning striking the man which if the man is to be symbolised as the main character this animation can be used to symbolise his bad look when he is trying to save himself by shining a light through the darkness only to get hit by lightning and the visuals to the effect I enjoyed watching and putting together and premier do a great job of proving easy ways to figure out how to use the different lightning affects and put them together into the trailer. When I was finished with this I placed it in the timescale and then adjusted the size of the image to make it smaller and less blurry because I didn’t want to enlargement affect for this company logo. I cut down the amount of time it was on for and followed it with another blank transition slides so that the viewer will be able to think about it before they continue to watch and I think that this style of lightning that’s more settle and smooth is better than the first company logo because it adds more to it and is better to view in my opinion. When I was watching trailers for research ones such as the pirates of the Caribbean Disney logo had the same type of affect on it and it looked great and I decided to take some of that inspiration and try and duplicate a similar outcome for my trailer as I saw and I did my best to provide that and had fun doing it.
  • 8.
Process Effects and graphicsin the footage, music and the final title Footage colour – to start with, I had a lot of footage and it wasn’t necessarily footage that I wanted and in parts of the footage it was to see if I could do something more useful with it at the time and I think that the footage I used was good, I used a cut tool to trim the footage down to only parts that fit the type of trailer that I was making and also fit the idea and concept of hike unfortunately as I did not get to film in the place that I had originally wanted to I had to change it to a new location and as the people had cast in it did not turn up I had to do scenery shots instead of the area and come up with a plan of how I was going to film ti and put it together and my idea was to film everything and then cut the footage and see what I could do with it. So I started off by using the cut tool to get rid of bits of footage that I didn’t want in my trailer and the bits that I got still didn’t fit that well and is no where near what I had wanted or intended but I could still out and fit into the trailer which is all that really mattered. I lined up the different parts of footage that I had and used the bins area to store each cut clip in a new folder I had called footage I'm using, I put them next to each other and then spaced them out by 2 seconds which then created this black transition between each part of the clips which I wanted to keep ad use because I felt that it worked well with it but I needed my trailer to be dark toned and I couldn’t include the violence that I had originally wanted to have in it so having it dark toned was important which is why I added a new colour correction to it where I changed the visual images they stayed light because when I turned them dark they was hard to see but I added this blurry mysterious affect on that I could use and I duplicated it to all of the clips that I had created this was good because it gave each of the clips that I had edited my own unique look to it. I think that the footage parts of the trailer could use some big improvements and I feel like I would go back and improve on it fully if I had the chance to. Dialogue – I had a narrators voice giving context to the trailer that I had recorded and added into I changed the sound affects and turned up the EQ and distortion giving it a vivid dark toned feel, I think that this worked well with the trailer and brought more to it, I wrote a script for the dialogue and got the person to read it while I recorded to start with, unfortunate when I tried to save this the file corrupted on the apple macs then it wouldn’t re open and when I made it again and re added the affects to the audio using the tools it then corrupted again so I had to take it out and use the music on its own leaving out a lot of the needed context. I think that if this dialogue was in the trailer it would made a huge difference to the outcome of the final product. Transitions slides – I had originally made transition slides with “coming soon” on it just before the end title and this also got corrupted as file and I was unable to add it in to my final product like originally intended it’s a small detail but it would have made a difference to me and I'm disappointed that it happened. Title – the last title is what I created on photoshop it’s The hike in writing with the outer glow and inner glow affect on it and I think that when it comes together it works really well with the image of the moon in the background. Originally this was an eclipse and I put it in the company logo of eclipse but I decided it didn’t fit and was more of a last ending scene to have it so I changed it and had a moon instead with clouds going across it and then the title in the centre and I felt that this worked well. To put the moon on I found a free gif of the moon downloaded it and added it to the end I then made the title transparent in background and then added it to the trailer at the end in front of the moon and the final effect that it had I felt worked well and I think that I could improve it I would have found abetter version of the moon where the clouds go fully across because I think that that would have probably been better, or I would have filmed the moon outside with the clouds going over and then added it to it myself. Music – the music used in this trailer was created on garage band and is a rendition of a song I knows backing track just tweaked the best I could and altered because I think that the song fit trailer that I was trying to create perfectly and I didn’t want it with the words and if I had of copied it in it would have been copy right so I created my own version with inspiration from the original. To create the track I used a keyboard attached to a laptop I used bass, drums and a piano in instruments and recorded each part of the track individually and then fit them together and I think it works well although the drums come into it to early and I would change that to put them further on, or I would just remove them completely because I don’t think they are that necessary.
