Introduction
• A governmentscheme that is launched in 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to train
over 40 crores Indians in different industry related jobs.
• This will empower all individuals through improved skills, knowledge, nationally and
internationally recognized qualifications to gain access to employment and ensure India’s
competitiveness in the global market.
• The first National Skill Development Policy was framed in 2009 and subsequently a
National Skill Development Mission was launched in 2010.
• A department of skill Development and Entrepreneurship was created under the Ministry of
Youth Affairs and Sports in July, 2014.

• The Skill India programme has numerous benefits.
• For instance, with proper skill development, the youth of India can access better-paying jobs and
experience a higher standard of living.
• Further, with proper development at the grassroots levels, every sector within the economy will
experience equal growth.
• Lastly, with trained Indians entering the workforce, better results can be achieved at a quicker pace,
which has the potential to boost the country’s economic growth.

• To createan empowered workforce by 2022 with the help of various schemes and training
courses.
• Aims to skill on a large scale with speed and high standards in order to achieve it’s vision of
a “Skilled India”.
• Create an end-to-end implementation framework for skill development, which provides
opportunities for life long learning.
• Support weaker and disadvantaged sections of society through focussed outreach
programmes and targeted skill development activities.

National Skill Development Mission
• This mission was introduced by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to empower the
younger generation. This mission was mainly developed to ensure employment opportunities by
providing training in skill development and enable them to become self-employed entrepreneurs.
• This mission was launched for creating convergence across various sectors and different states with
concern to activities related to skill training
• The mission is not only coordinating skill efforts but would also facilitate decision making across the
sectors to achieve quality skilling on a large scale.

National policy forskill development and
entrepreneurship
• It aims to offer an umbrella framework regarding all skilling activities that are carried out within India.
• It helps the individual to get align with common standards and connect skilling with demand centers.
• In addition to laying down the objectives and expected outcomes, the policy also does the identification
of the overall institutional framework which will act as a means to achieve the expected results.
• The mission focuses on training the youth mainly from the underprivileged section of the society.

Pradhan Mantri KaushalVikas Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill
Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
implemented by National Skill Development
Corporation. The objective of this Skill
Certification Scheme is to enable a large number
of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill
training that will help them in securing a better
livelihood.

Components of PMKVY
•Short term training: Under this module training is provided to college/school dropouts and the
unemployed.
• Kaushal and rozgar mela: This module encourages active participation from the community to foster
transparency and accountability.
• Recognition of prior learning: Individuals with prior experience get certified and receive access to bridge
courses to cater to knowledge gaps.
• Special projects: Those training programmes that deviate from the standard framework find a place within
this facet of this scheme.
• Monitoring guidelines: To ensure that quality is maintained at the designated training centres, the scheme
undertakes proper monitoring of the centres.
• Placement guidelines: To ensure that a skilled workforce is guided into the right field as per the demands
of the market, the scheme follows strict placement rules.

• To analyse the socio economic profile of beneficiaries who take part in Skill India training.
• To study and identify the major problems/hurdles faced in self employment after Skill India training by
beneficiaries.
• To study about the people’s perception and the awareness related to the study of Skill India.

Limitations of thestudy
• The study is restricted to the selected sample of Greater Noida. Therefore, the results of the study cannot
be generalised.
• There is lack of awareness among people.
• Lack of availability of required proper data.
• Time is limited to complete the project.
• There is limited access to information.
• There may be some biasedness on the review of people.

Conclusion
• Our youngpopulation is facing various problems like unemployment, poverty etc.
• Due to this the government of India take several steps to reduce these problems by introducing a several steps a
skill development and self-entrepreneurship schemes/programme.
• A great step is taken by developing country as developed India by motivating the talent of youth to make the
future bright.
• It helps the youth to get the job in various sectors and it is possible only through employment generations and
social security for the youth to accept responsibility.
• The biggest challenge which observed in two ways: of generating massive employment generation opportunities
and increasing the employability and skills of the Indian youth.

Recommendations
1. By creatingawareness among the people especially in the rural area about the various schemes under Skill India
project, improvements can be done and will get more satisfied results.
2. By increasing and developing vocational training in School, Colleges because the youth is the future of the
country, so there is a need to train a greater number of youths.
3. By visiting rural areas and get the people convinced to register themselves in any of the schemes under the Skill
India project.
4. The teachers should be given proper training to develop and their skills like communication, technical and
vocational skills.

Managerial implications
• Thebenefits of a growing economy are often reflected in the growing number of well-paid jobs in a
country.
• Consequently, any policy that stimulates the economy to grow, has an impact on job creation and the
overall employability of the country’s workforce.
• India finds itself in a context today where young people are entering the workforce every year. To
make the most of the demographic dividend, it is critical to improve the employability of the youth.
• This includes the removal of the disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower,
building a vocational and technical training framework, building new skills and innovative thinking,
not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created.

Societal implication
• TheSkill India Impact Bond will support 50,000 young people in India over four years, 60 percent
of whom will be women and girls and provide them with skills and training and access to wage-
employment in Covid-19 recovery sectors including retail, apparel, healthcare, and logistics.
• In the long run, the policy will help in reducing poverty in the country, it will increase the
competitiveness of Indian business, ensure that skill training imparted is relevant and of quality,
prepare Indians to take on the world’s manpower market, diversify the existing skill development
programmes to meet today’s challenges.
