  In what waysdo your Media Products Use, Develop or Challenge Forms of Conventions of Real Media Products? Film Poster In order for me to get an idea of what film poster conventions follow, I decided to view a few film posters online which follow the same genre as my film trailer. All of the film posters I viewed had followed the same pattern of including a billing board at the bottom of the poster to make the readers informed of all the actors and people involved in the making and production of the film. I therefore followed conventions by placing a billing board at the bottom of my poster. I also placed the protagonists within the centre of my poster to ensure that they are the first things looked at by the audience. I challenged forms of conventions by overlapping three features: the protagonists, the aliens at the bottom and also the slogan for our movie ‘Love War System Restore’. Adding to this, I also challenged conventions by placing a white rimmed border around the edge of my poster to make the text stand out more on a clear background. Film Magazine Cover I googled Sci-Fi themed film magazine covers to gain some inspiration and influence on how to make my magazine cover use conventions. I have used conventions by enlarging the image of the protagonist to represent him being the most important and eye catching subject on the page as I want my audience to look at the magazine and be drawn to the main image so they can be eager to find out more about his character and what film he is going to be in. I have also followed conventions by placing my magazine company’s name at the top of the magazine so the colour and font is easily recognisable by readers. I challenged conventions by placing the enlarged image behind the magazine company’s name instead of being in front of it, which is usually how it is formatted on the layout of film magazines. I have also followed conventions by choosing a background which makes the type of genre of the magazine easily recognisable by buyers and viewers. Adding to this, I have followed conventions by formatting advertisements of other Sci-Fi programs on to the front cover and I have also advertised the actual magazine to explain to readers why they should read this film magazine. Teaser Trailer My trailer followed conventions by having the trailer disclaimer at the front; however arguably developed and challenged conventions by having an alien placement text on the disclaimer to match my genre of Sci-Fi. It also followed conventions for an 80’s Sci-Fi trailer by using retro 80’s fonts and also the retro colour correction used on each shot. By doing this, it made my trailer easily recognisable that it is a Sci- Fi film filmed in the 1980’s due t

  How Effective isthe Combination of your Main Product and Ancillary Texts? Why do they work as a Campaign? I personally think that our film trailer titled ‘Syndromio and Juliet’ worked well with the film poster and magazine cover as they were all easily recognisable from the same film due to the same retro effect added over each product. The film poster and magazine cover both included high definition images of the male and female protagonists on the front to insinuate the film trailer will include the two actors in it. By also including the two protagonists in the first two scenes of the film trailer, it made them work together in similarity. The font used for the film title has stayed consistent throughout the film poster and the magazine cover as well as the film trailer to make my campaign as effective as it could be. The colours used throughout my main product and ancillary texts are quite aluminous and neon to represent the 1980’s period including the dimensional grid. The main product and ancillary texts both include the same brand name to advertise my campaign and make it as recognisable as I could for future viewers and people with an interest in the campaign.

  What have youlearned from your Audience Feedback? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnjG0QJma9U I have learnt from my audience feedback about the strengths of our film trailer and also the improvements required if we were ever given another similar project. To improve our video we could have made the clips a lot sharper and shorter to create a longer story however still not giving too much of it away to the audience. Adding to this, we know for the future to make the storyline and narration a lot clearer so that the audience has a rough idea what the film is about without giving too much of it away. I have also learnt that the title slates and effects suited the storyline and genre very well, as well as the description on the trailer disclaimer (about aliens). I think this was the main strength of our film trailer due to us owning the unique equipment to be able to film and adapt our footage to make it look like it was filmed in the 1980’s such as using a retro effect over the footage as well as green alien goo spurting up to the screen to make it look as realistic as we could.

  How did youuse Media Technologies in the Construction and Research, Planning and Evaluation stages? Blogger I used Blogger throughout the whole process of creating our film trailer, we relied on Blogger to construct the portfolio and timeline of our film trailers so we had everything in chronological order. Blogger enabled us to create individuals blog posts so we could have organised work; this work included the planning and research of our film trailers. Photoshop I used Photoshop to edit the images used for my film poster and my film magazine cover. Editing on Photoshop involved: cropping the images down, adding effects onto them, added different layers, adding text and also adjusting the size to suit the requirements I had planned. Garage Band I used Garage Band to help sequence and cut down the sound clips downloaded from the internet to embed and layer onto our film trailer. Garage Band also helped us alternate the volume and pitch of the sound clips to adjust them to fit the levels we needed. YouTube I used YouTube for the upload of our film trailer however was uploaded on Kieran’s YouTube account. This enabled the choice of having our film trailer private or public for everyone to be able to view. Google Drive I used Google Drive to access help and information which was shared with myself and the rest of my class to help us make progress with our: construction and research, planning and also the evaluation. Google Drive was also used for sharing necessary footage and sound clips with myself and Kieran so we had somewhere to store our files. Camera Equipment I used Camera Equipment when constructing the physical footage of our film trailer – this equipment included a camera, a tripod stand and also a professional filming light which helped us capture the best lighting we could. Without having this equipment, we would not have been able to produce the footage we produced.
