- #2 A leader comes in many forms and in a variety of settings., each striving for the same ultimate goal. Community. A strong community is what drives and supports the members of it. In Residence Life, HD’s, AD’s, RA’s, DA’s are all important leaders and make a huge impact on the lives of students. The role of an Assistant Hall Director is to Facilitate the qualities of these outstanding people to create a positive living and learning community.
- #3 I have developed a model for my own way of acting as a leader and facilitating the leadership of my co-workers with the use of 4 T’s that relate to Golf, one of my greatest passions. I use tees because of the significance of the Golf tee. The golf tee to me represents the first step towards success. The tee is an advantage that only a foundation can provide. The 4 words I selected provide a solid foundation of skills that allow someone to reap the full benefits of anything. Creating a sense of fulfillment but most importantly making a meaningful impact on those around you.
- #25 Now I would like ot explain to you how the Golf tee is important in our lives as leaders in Residence Life. The golf tee is a Foundation in delicate balance. The small tee supports the golf ball, an object much larger than itself. We as a staff represent the golf tee while golf ball represents the residents on a floor, building, or entire campus. In order to maintain that balance to support all those residents everyone needs to contribute their own T’s whether they have a uniques technique, effective tools, an ability to teach, or exhibit true passion. The use of all the different and diverse T’s is what allows the golf ball or residents to stay supported. Therefore this unity creates a foundation perfectly prepared for success. I now want to give you your own golf tee to remind you of your own contribution to the success of Residence Life and encourage you to help others find theirs as well.
