An Agri Export Zone (AEZ) is a geographic region designated for agricultural processing industries focused on exports. In 2001, the Indian government announced a policy to establish AEZs across the country, sanctioning 60 zones comprising 40 agricultural commodities spread across 20 states. AEZs are intended to benefit farmers through better prices, improve product quality and packaging, promote trade research, increase employment, and add value to raw agricultural goods.
