This document discusses low-power microcontrollers for IoT applications. It describes the EFM32TG and EFM32ZG microcontrollers, which offer very low active power consumption between 110-150 μA/MHz at 3V. They can wake from sleep modes in just 2 microseconds and have ultra-low standby currents as low as 20 nA. The microcontrollers provide autonomous peripherals that can operate independently of the CPU when it is sleeping to further reduce power usage. They also have well-designed energy modes that allow extremely low power consumption down to 500 nA in stop mode and 20 nA in shutoff mode.
