workis entitled,“Liberatory Transformation of Self to Selfethnic:An Africentric Racial Identity
DevelopmentModel”,andit representsaninsightful analysisof the impactof Africentricknowledgeon
the racial identitydevelopmentprocessof graduate studentsof the AfricanDiaspora.One of the salient
outcomesof herstudyis an Africentricidentitydevelopmentmodel thatreflectsthe natural blendof
African-centeredphilosophy,psychology,andspirituality,amodel thatDr.Joneshaspresentedat
several conferencesincludingthe White Privilegeconference in2011 and several conferencesatThe
ChicagoSchool.
Priorto joiningthe StudentAffairsstaff atTCSPP,Dr. JonesworkedatDePaul University,JolietJunior
College,andwiththe HospitalityandEntrepreneurshipTrainingCenter. Herprofessional responsibilities
have spannedthe areasof careerdevelopment,judicial affairs,budgetandpersonnelmanagement,
strategicplanning,studentandprogramdevelopment,crisismanagement,andpolicydevelopment. The
bulkof her workexperience tookplace atDePaul where she servedasan AssistantDeanof Students,
workingcloselywithfacultyandstaff toremove individual andinstitutionalbarriersforstudentsandto
helpthemdevelopstrongpersonal andcommunityidentitiesthatwouldprepare themtorespondto
the demandsof our diverse andglobal world.
