Vespucci describes the land and people of South America based on his exploration of Brazil in 1502. He notes the abundant plant and animal life, including many species not found in Europe. The native people live without clothes, laws, religion or private property. They have a communal lifestyle, living in large structures and sleeping in hammocks. Their diet consists mostly of fish and shellfish, and sometimes cannibalism. The people are long-lived, warlike, and engage in human sacrifice.
