Guideline #1 Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned bell work!

Guideline #2 Bring  ALL  books and materials to class  and  take them with you when you leave. Leave the room CLEAN!!
Guideline #3 Follow directions the  first  time they are given. If you need clarification please raise your hand!
Guideline #4 Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.  We all learn differently Please respect and  understand that!
Guideline #5 Follow  all  procedures and policies  as outlined in the SJS handbook.
Special Guideline This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”.  That means that there will be  no whining , for ANY reason.  Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” this year!

Following  Guidelines  will result in: Verbal Acknowledgement A Stress free learning environment A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere
Not  Following Guidelines  will result in: 1 st Warning: Visual or Verbal 2 nd Written Correction Plan 3 rd Demerit
Severe  Clause Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office  IMMEDIATELY .

What Are Procedures? Procedures are put in place for our classroom so you will know what is expected of you on a daily basis.  This will allow us to focus all of our attention on the  wonderful world of writing and reading !
Entering the room Please enter quietly Group Leader hands out writing journals Sit in your assigned seat Take out your materials Review the agenda Begin bell work assignment
Asking for Help If you need help, please put the red tent up. If you are clear about instructions, keep the green tent up!
When you are tardy Enter quietly Sign Notebook Do NOT distract the class! A classmate WILL catch you up at an appropriate time! Have a seat and take out your materials
After an absence  See Homework buddy Go to file cabinet for information and sign notebook! Retrieve any handouts Sign the notebook
Getting your attention I will: Stand in front of the class Raise my hand : Give me 5!  Wait for everyone to comply Begin speaking

Turning in papers Place your paper in the middle of the table! If you do NOT have a paper to hand in, fill out the Student Responsibility Sheet and put on the TOP of the stack! I will come by and collect  all stacks
Classroom Discussions PLEASE participate : You will often hear me say, “ Actively participate or Individually demonstrate !” I  want  to hear what you have to say Make all questions and  comments  relevant  to the  current discussion If your question is  off the topic ,  write it down and ask later.
Moving around the room You must ask permission Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency
Notebooks Will be graded every 2 weeks! Keep them organized If you are not sure what you should include, the master notebook is on my desk We will go over section details at a later date

Class Dismissal The teacher dismisses you,  not the bell Do not start packing up prior to the bell – you  might  miss important information Wait until the teacher  finishes and officially  dismisses you with: “ Have a great day!”
