  MISE ON SCENEThe graffiti in the background creates the image of rebellion, It fits the name NME (enemy) which is an independent or rebellious magazine. It also has Dizzee Rascal who is a rapper, and rebellion is stereotypically linked to that genre of music. It also carries on the graffiti from the front cover to carry on the theme or rebellion. MAIN IMAGE The main image is of Dizzee Rascal in front of graffiti with what looks like a spray can. It shows him tagging the walls which carries on the rebellious image. The point of having Dizzee Rascal also shows the genre of the magazine as he his a hip-hop/rap star so anybody who likes this genre of music would be interested in buying it. BYLINE Gives credit to the photographer and author. SUB HEADING The subheading tells us about dizzee rascals year in 2009, with his name in bold, this shows his importance on the page again. It also stands out from the rest of the page as it is a bigger font and has some writing in bold. MAIN HEADING This quirky writing is the biggest on the page and draws your eyes straight towards it. It shows it is the most important writing as it is the biggest font on the entire spread. It is slanted and some letters are bigger than the other, this fits in with Dizzee Rascals quirky personality and fits the theme of the page well which is not conforming. MAIN HEADING FOUR COLUMS The text is split into four columns to make it seem like there isn’t as much writing as there actually is as they are all spread out into small paragraphs. It also wraps around the image of the radio. This actually draws more attention to the radio. The use of these columns allows a lot of information, without is seeming overbearing. CAPTION SAYING DIZEE This shows who it is on the page for anybody who is unsure. SECOND IMAGE The second image used is the radio and beer in the bottom right hand corner, these images fit in with Dizzee Rascals genre of music and personality as the radio is a boom box, which is associated with the rap/hip-hop genre which is what Dizzee Rascal is in and along with the beer which is associated with having a good time, which is what a lot of his music is about. TEXT The text starts with a big letter y with drops caps, This draws your eye towards it and makes it more appealing to the eye. It is the same font as the rest of the page following on the theme.

  The article itselfis basically about Dizzee Rascals fame and about how many people showed up to see his photo shoot and interview, this shows his fame and it talks about the awards he has won. It also continues to speak about his personality and how he tagged his name after the shoot. This fits in with mise en scene of the magazine and why there is graffiti in the background of every page. It is written in 4 short columns each of approx75-100 words which allows a lot of information to be wrote without it seeming overbearing and is a clever way to organize the page. The main heading/headline is quite dramatic as it is the biggest font of the page and very bold, it is also not conforming to how a heading normally is as it is different sizes and not straight lines, which fits in the idea of rebelling against what is normal, which is what an independent magazine is about.

  MAIN IMAGE Themain image is of the black eyed peas, it shows Will I am, the main member in a gold outfit, with the rest of the band members behind him and faded out into the background, this shows that he is the most important part of the band. The whole image also dominates about 2 thirds of the whole two page spread, showing their importance. It also shows the genre of the magazine which is along the hip-hop lines. MAIN HEADING There is no main heading to the page, it is mainly dominated by the image. COVER LINE The cover line is the biggest piece of font on the whole page, and it follows the colour scheme of hold and grey, which is what the group members are wearing. It is in sort of a techno font, which fits in with the bands music, which is mainly always auto tuned and kind of techno. SUBHEADING The subheading is in black boxes with white background. This is effective as it makes it stand out, and draws your attention to it without drawing it away from the main article too much . TEXT The text is in one long line all the way down the page, it takes up about half of one side of the double page spread, this is effective as it doesn’t take up too much space so doesn’t seem too overwhelming. It has an arrow pointing to where it starts which is gold and follows the colour scheme of the page. MISE EN SCENE The white background with all the gold and silver makes it seem quite futuristic and techno, this fits in with the black eyed peas type of music which is mainly auto tuned and techno. The background is plain white which makes all the other things on it stand out, especially all the gold on the page. It also allows the other members of the band to fade into the background without disappearing completely.

  MAIN IMAGE Themain image shows Lily Allen standing with her hands on hips, looking very rockerish. This fits in with the genre of the magazine as it is a rock magazine. She is also a very successful artist which shows that Kerrang must be a successful magazine to be able to have an interview with her. She has a whole page to herself for the image which dominates half of the whole double page spread, which draws your eyes straight to her. She is also wearing bold colours with jet black hair, which also makes her stand out a lot more. It shows that she is the main focus of the page. MAIN HEADING The main heading is white writing on a black background, this is very effective as it stands out a lot. It is a quote from lily Allen on the interview she did for the magazine. It is also very effective as the choice of font is very different to what is normally seen in a magazine, with each letter having it’s own black box around it at different sizes, making it very eye catching and carries on the sort of rock genre miss en scene for the magazine. BACKGROUND The background is just plain white, which is actually very effective as there is enough colour in the image and the main heading, and the effect of having a plain white background is that it makes the image and the heading stand out a lot more. It also carries on the black and white theme for the rest of the page, making the main image a lot more eye catching. TEXT The text starts with a letter I which is a lot bigger and bolder than the rest of the paragraphs with drop caps. The effect of this is to make it seem more appealing to read. It is in the same font as the main title, and also on the white background it still stands out a lot. The rest of the text is in four columns which allows them to publish loads of information about lily Allen without it seeming overbearing. Which seems to follow on through a lot of other magazines as well. SUBHEADING The subheading shows Lily Allen’s name in bright bold red lettering, showing she is the main part of the page and follows the colour scheme throughout the whole page of white, black and red. It introduces the paragraphs about Lily Allen. It is effective as it stands out from the rest of the font, but not too much to take the attention away from the main image and heading.
