ASSURE Assignment

Analyze Audience
The students are fourth graders. There are twenty students: eleven girls and nine boys. There
are two Muslims, three Jews, and two African Americans.

State Objectives
The kids will identify and explain the holidays in one week with a 100% accuracy by watching
videos on holidays, doing skits on the holidays in small groups, listening to holiday songs, and creating
poster boards on the holidays.

Select Methods, Media & Materials
The kids will watch the video and sing the songs in a large group. They will participate in the
skits in small groups. A television, DVD player and DVD will be collected for watching for the video on
the holidays. A CD player and CDs with various holiday songs will also be acquired to sing the songs. I
will have to acquire poster boards for the groups as well as the necessary items to make the poster
boards (including markers, stickers, and glue). The children will also need access to the computers to do
research the holiday for their skits.

Utilize Media & Materials
I will preview the video and CDs before they are presented to the kids. I will also make sure the
CDs, DVD, television, and DVD player work. I will also make sure that the items that are needed for the
poster boards are in the classroom and ready for use. I will make sure the computers in the school are
free and schedule a time for the children to do their research there.

Require Learner Participation
The kids will watch the video and discuss the holidays that are mentioned.They will then use the
computers to learn more about the holiday they are assigned to do a skit on. The kids will also listen to
the holiday music while conducting their research. They will write a skit that includes the traditions they
learned. Before presenting the skits, the children will make a creative poster board about the holiday
they were assigned. Then, they will present the skit that they have prepared in their small groups.
Evaluation of Methods & Media
After watching the video, the children will be debriefed on what they have learned. The kids will
be evaluated based on the content of the skit they have presented. Then, the kids will discuss with me
how interesting the video and CDs were. The poster boards will be hung in the classroom for display.
The proper changes will be made to the curriculum for future times the lesson will be used.
