This document provides information about asteroids, comets, and meteors. Asteroids are rocky leftovers from planet formation that orbit the sun in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Comets are dirty snowballs made of ice and dust that formed at the birth of the solar system and have stable orbits past Neptune. Meteoroids are tiny asteroids or comet crumbs that become meteors when entering an atmosphere, and meteorites if they reach the surface.
