AUDIENCE PROFILE
Mark Shaw
Target Audience:
My target audience is generally aimed at people who
like R&B, it is not specifically aimed towards any
gender/age, just the people that love listening to R&B
music. I will make my magazine appealing to all the
different types of R&B to increase satisfaction. The
genre itself I is quite relaxed, which is what I want my
magazine to replicate.
AGE
For a specific age range, I would aim at 16-30 years old, this is
the age range I feel listen to the most R&B music, I decided on
this age range after conducting a focus group and looking at
past surveys. This is the range I will be aiming my magazine at.
LIKES
Any person who likes R&B and genres associated to
R&B (Hip-Hop). People who may not necessarily
like the genre, but like the artists who perform the
genre and want to get to know their past life & how
they rose to fame.
DISLIKES
Genres not associated with R&B, such as
classical music and Rock, I will not be aiming
my magazine at them.
EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT
Education - As my magazine is mostly aimed at young adults
who will be probably be in college/university.
Employment – Possibly a weekend job seeming as most are
students, maybe evening shifts. As my magazine is also aimed
at late twenties, possibly full time jobs. However considering
most would be students it would be appropriate to say many
don’t have a full time job.
GENDER
I’m not particularly aiming my magazine towards any gender as I
want it to be enjoyable for both genders. However whilst
researching who buys R&B magazines more, I found that males
dominate the sales figures, basing off this I want to push my
magazine towards the male section, this could be by using a
male artist on the front cover who males idolise, however to keep
my magazine open to the female audience, I could offer a
competition to see a female heroin live in concert.
CLASS
Due to my magazine being aimed at young adults, they
wont be earning as much money which will put them at
the lower end of the spectrum, however not many
students will have to pay bills and therefore have more
freedom with their money. As for the early twenties
people with a full time job, they will have been in full
time work for a few years and despite having
responsibilities I believe they will still have enough for
luxury items.
RELIGION
My magazine is aimed towards any religion. I
feel R&B is a very open genre of music aimed
towards any religion.
MARITAL STATUS
Seeming as most of my audience will be young I
would say not married as they are very young,
however some of the older audience could be
married, but as my magazine is mainly aimed
towards young adults I would say not married.
LIFESTYLE
Young adults have less
responsibilities and a lot more free
time inbetween doing activities
such as studying and
watching/performing sports.
