QUESTION ONE
The proportion of females in
comparison top males that have
filled out my survey is
significantly lower. I could use
these results to improve my ideas
for the design and contents of
my magazine so that the contents
is more in the interest of
females and include articles that
would inspire the women reading.
However there is still 36.67% of
the readers that are male and
therefore the contents of the
magazine have to be still
interesting
to a male
audience but
lenient in the
interests of
women such as
giving an idol in
the music
industry women
would look up too
but her career
and life
experiences would
also inspire men.
QUESTION TWO
The majority of the people that filled in my survey are 16-19 year olds and
most likely in either college, university or full time work at the
beginning of their career. This age range is one that are beginning to find
themselves and what inspires them to do in the future and therefore an
important reading audience my magazine may influence. I will have to make
my contents and article to the interest of this age range and include
things that a large majority of young people enjoy.
QUESTION THREE
43.33% of people that
answered my survey said
that they would buy
acoustic genre magazine. I
should therefore make the
music genre of my magazine
acoustic.
Pop, rock and other genres
of music were all around
20% therefore about 60% of
people weren't as
interested in acoustic
music as a different
genre. I will therefore
possibly in the contents
page of my magazine
possible include some
artists names that are
acoustic artists but have
made it in the charts and
have a twang of other
genres of music.
QUESTION FOUR
There was an equal divide
between the amount of people
that said they would be most
likely to either see Green Day
or Ben Howard live but not
Justin Bieber. Therefore in my
magazine I should concentrate
on articles about artists and
music that’s most popular from
my survey or ones that are
similar in the public eye and
best suited to their likes.
More unique artists like ben
Howard are in the genre of
acoustic, more so than green
day, and therefore may feature
an artist or band that have
music similar to ben Howard
rather than green day.
QUESTION FIVE
The largest amount of
people said that they would
subscribe to a magazine
monthly and the second most
popular format was
electronic download.
Therefore my magazine would
be best suited to the
audience if it was a
monthly subscription. As a
second resort for more
information r details my
magazine could have a form
of electronic download or
social media sites for.
QUESTION SIX
There was an equal divide in
the amount of people that would
spend £3 and under and who
would spend £3- £5. Therefore
the price of my magazine will
be £3 so that its not at the
top of the readers ideal budget
but is a profit for the style
of magazine I want to make. I
think that £3.00 is a good
price for young people between
the ages of 16-19 that
typically don’t have as much
disposable income as some other
age groups of the public. .
QUESTION SEVEN
46.67% of people said
that new releases is what
interests them most in a
music magazines. I could
use this in my magazine
design and include
contextual information on
artist/bands new releases
or upcoming artists that
are in the acoustic style
of music. From my other
research these could be
tour dates of artists
like ben Howard or Lucy
rose that readers can
read about and see events
they might have not known
without the magazines
information.
QUESTION EIGHT
The majority of the
people that completed
my survey said that
they preferred a
spacious layout,
neutral colour scheme,
large amounts of images
and without a lot of
text. I will use this
and make my magazine
layout and colour
scheme fit with what
was the most popular on
this survey. As well as
what style of magazine
I want to create.
QUESTION NINE
45.16% of people said that they preferred a photograph that wasn’t
taken in a studio with no artificial lighting and minimal editing.
However 32.26% said they preferred high quality shot photographs
taken in a studio. This
means that I can experiment with both types of
photography and way of shooting and chose based on
the other themes within my magazine design as well
as what I think is best suited with the style of
articles in the contents of the magazine.
QUESTION TEN
There was little
difference between the
amount that said they
preferred a bold font,
colourful and large text
and who said they
preferred dainty,
minimalistic, small text.
I could therefore
experiment with both and
see which one would be
more suited to the other
design components within
my magazine such as page
colour, layout,
photographs featured on
the page.
