This article aims to identify ethical issues that could influence family consent rates for organ donation. The main ethical issue identified is the lack of clarification provided to families during the consent process, as information about brain death diagnosis, appearance, and disfigurement of the body were found to be deficient. Other ethical aspects like respecting the family's moment of loss, beliefs, and values, as well as ensuring the family chooses the most adequate option, are also important. Therefore, the importance of trained healthcare professionals to properly address the family is highlighted, seeking greater acceptance and ethics-based assistance.
