Ross Mitchell has been a bandleader for ballroom dancing for 50 years, starting his career with Mecca Dancing. He now tours the UK and internationally with various sized bands from a 5-piece up to an 18-piece. For major competitions he has two bands - a 22 piece big band and a larger band with singers. As ballroom venues have closed, he has had to adapt to one night stands and smaller performances. A bandleader's role requires careful planning to meet the needs of dancers.
