ROYALS BUSINESS PARK- ROYAL ALBERT DOCK,
                 LONDON
Landscape Character Assessment
The tool that is used to help us to understand, and articulate, the character of the landscape. It
helps us identify the features that give a locality its 'sense of place' and pinpoints what makes it
different from neighbouring areas
6

Landscape Quality and Sensitivity to Change

The assessment of townscape quality/value is the process of evaluating different character
areas with regard to their character, condition, and aesthetic appeal and attaching a value to
these areas. It also takes into account an appraisal of the likely value or importance to the
community.

The capacity of the landscape/townscape to accept change of the type and scale proposed
has to be assessed based on the vulnerability of each character area to degradation
through the introduction of new features, or through the loss of existing features.
7
My new masterplan proposes to convert this
brownfield site into urban mixed-use area
contributing to the character of dockside to
envisage the waterfront as a hub of activity and
opportunity for urban food production. Proposed
SUDS scheme unites the whole site. Royal Albert
Way is covered with green bridges to mitigate the
noise and to connect the site with surrounded area.
With ‘green carpets’ it also counteracts the heat
                                       island effect.

                               AutoCAD+ Photoshop

The attractions with aquarium, new shopping/market hub, wetland and water activities will
improve the site socially, ecologically, economically and aesthetically.
The vision is to return the Royal Albert Dock to its former glory as a thriving, vibrant
place to live, work and visit.

GIS
While doing the assessment GIS became one of important tools that helped me in my
work especially in new design of SUDs system.

HADLOW COLLEGE- GARDEN DESIGN
‘Colour Gallery’ was a part of the Broadview
Gardens that is located in peaceful picturesque
                 Kent countryside.
The objective was to create a garden that invites
people for further exploring of the gardens.
The whole process was carried out by hand
                 including final plan.
