Best Practices for companies on Twitter In a recent survey , 89% of Twitter users agreed that brands should engage with their customers on Twitter. 78% would be more willing to purchase a product/ service from a company that has a relationship with me on Twitter. Twitter is a conversational community, don’t just broadcast and push your message/ links out. Define your strategy: Why are you doing this? Who is your target audience? What will you achieve? How will you measure success? How long will the project last? Utilize all details of Twitter profile to clearly brand your account: name, image, background, url, bio. Listen for those talking about your brand and set up RSS feeds on search.twitter.com . Set a baseline of number of posts about your brand and sentiment. Track monthly. Twitter etiquette: Find targets to follow. Follow back those that follow you, respond to all who respond to you within 2 hours. 12 tweets per promotion, use URL shortener that is trackable. Show your business personality and humanize your company by publishing interesting content. Promote your brand periodically with special offers and coupons that can be tracked. Display your Twitter account on digital assets: web page, email signature, company social networks Use tools like Twinfluence , Twitter Grader , and Tweetstats for relative measurement.
