Technology and Me Cari Ann’s personal timeline of educational technology
Overview Hello! my name is Cari Ann Honda I started school in 1994 in Wailuku I graduated from H.P. Baldwin High School in 2007. I first went to college at the University of Hawaii Manoa in 2007. When I finish my degree, I hope to become either a Japanese or Chemistry teacher.
My definition of educational technology … a way of enhancing student learning and promoting creativity by using new tools, resources, etc.
Web sites on ed tech history A History of Computers and their Role in Education http://www.statcan.gc.ca/edu/power-pouvoir/ch4/history-histoire/5214792-eng.htm A Brief History of Technology in Education http://www.schooltube.com/video/76c5e1d1de044a2e8c71/A-Brief-History-of-Technology-in-Education A History of Distance Education (since this is an online class) http://www.bsu.edu/classes/nasseh/study/history.html
Kindergarten technology I remember using the original Macintosh computer and floppy discs.
High school technology My chemistry teacher used a video presenter for her lectures and demonstrations. Graphing calculators were required for my math classes.
College technology Many of my classes are using iclickers to assess student learning. Most of my professors use powerpoint. Many of my classes have online websites for assignments, notes, etc.
A vivid technology learning experience Using video and Final Cut to make a video for my chemistry final project. Using Skype to talk to a student in Japan for my Japanese class.
A technology I want to use in my classroom I would want a class website so that students could have access to their lessons and assignments from anywhere. Also I could post links to references that I think are important.
My vision of the classroom of the future I hope that all students will use technology to not only to connect with their classmates, but to also connect with and learn from other people around the world.
A challenge for teaching At best financially, most schools will probably never be able to have at least one computer per student.
